coolant help please!

i am low on coolant - my 4.2 s//c reminds of this everytime I turn on the ignition. I go over to Land Rover dealer to buy more coolant but they don't have any stock of the pink stuff!!
Would anymore know what type of coolant is the pinkish stuff that that is in our radiators?

Since Land Rover malaysia are unable to sell me some, i might as well go to another shop to ask for a coolant with similar properties to the L.R variety.

Do anymore know specs the coolant is? any other brands that are good?

Since I live in the tropics, surely anti-freeze is not needed. But should it be mixed with water? at what ratio>?

thanks '06 4.2 S/C Buckingham Blue/ Parchment

if it's what i think it is, it will be OAT anti freeze. this is organic stuff, red in colour and more expensive, but it is apparently what L/R recommend. Current: TDV8 Vogue Zambezi Silver

it is OAT and over here im sure its 50/50 mix but you might need to speak to the dealer to find out what mix yours needs to be.....also if you mix it with the blue stuff youll end up with a white sludge in your water system "RANGEISM WILL NOT BE TOLERATED"

thanks for the replies guys.

I have had a look in Wiki. It says: "Cooling system from dry inc reservoir tank is - refill 13L (13.7 US quarts) from dry 17.3L (18.3 US quarts)" 50% mix water with antifreeze Havoline XLC or similar extended life coolant. SLA Super Longlife Antifreeze

Is coolant and anti-freeze the same thing? I always thought that water is needed in the radiator to cool the motor down and we add anti-freeze to prevent water in the radiator from turning to ice. So now, do we need coolant + water + anti-freeze? '06 4.2 S/C Buckingham Blue/ Parchment

Coolant and antifreeze are the same thing. Coolant would be the general name but with antifreeze properties. The pink OAT coolant has anticorrosion stuff in it and is organic so can go down the drain. MOre expensive and ment to last longer than the blue. You cant mix blue and pink due to their chemical make up as they produce a goo thats bad! You can put any pink/red/orange in with yours or do a full drain and flush and replace with cheaper more avalible blue. 04, 4.4V8, Vogue Oslo Blue with LPG.

As far as I remember American Marine Grand Banks motor yachts are made in Malaysia-Singapore and they will use it in there engines so it won't poison the water system in case of leaks. Should have it in vast quantities . 2008 MY Supercharged
