There was also some concern in the early days that the airbag cover could become brittle through aging and a flying fragment cause eye damage.

Scarey kindly supplied an illustration of what this look like in another thread:

Does nick know you're using a photo of him?

Do you Censored money!?

You'll be looking at around £1000 per unit.

£1300 for the drivers, £1000 for the passenger. I cant find the 4 curtain air bag prices or the 4 side air bag prices or the two pre-tensioners, they aren't going to be cheap.

But if they are 1K each then that's £12,000 - unless you take a chance on just replacing the front air bags? In which case sods law means you'll have a side impact!

It doesn't add up I'm afraid.

Christ, £12,000! I think I can live with the original airbags for a few more years.
Must be painful for owners of 10 year old Defenders, Disco's and Freelanders.

Not really, because no one does it.

How many people who buy a car at that age check they have been done?

If you are concerned about your family that much, buy a newer car and not run an older one. Used to have:
2005 FFRR 4.4 Vogue - BRC LPG Conversion & Remapped

Now have:
2008 SSRR 3.6 TDV8 - HSE and plenty of toys
