2006 Range Rover Td6 Vogue Auto Cairns Blue

Mer? Seriously? Last time I bought mer it was a white paste itself - surely its going to leave even more on it isn't it?

The lamp guards don't have a smooth finish either - more of a textured rough finish. I was wondering about taking them off and using back to black with a toothbrush maybe? FFRR TD6 06MY. Cairns Blue, Blue Hide. LR 7 Spoke 20" Wheels, S/C Grill and Vents. Privacy Glass and Side Steps

Thats why you want the Mer Bumper Gel, it's completely different to the Mer wax/polish which is crap. It has the consistency of runny hair gel. If you rub it in with a towel the fibres will get into the textured finish of the plastic, then turn the towel over and buff off. It lasts longer than most back to black products I've tried. I also have the plastic light guards, so know what a pain they can be.

You can also remove them and put them in the dishwasher if the wife will let you, that will remove all the grime and road grease etc, then you can just apply back to black via spay can.

I put Meguiars Trim Detailer gel on my blackwork like the light guards and door mirrors.

Applied with a small round applicator sponge. THE INVENTOR OF THE TERM "FULL-FAT RANGE ROVER" :

I've used Gliptone products - got great write-ups in other forums... especially good in a 'restoration' role.

Also heard that saddle soap and saddle leather feed are good - available from horsey places.
- I'd be keen to know if anyone has experience of using these?

I have recently used the giptone cleaner and treatmet on our 5 series - cleaned but could spot little difference, although cloth was dirty after. The real difference was the lovely smell left in the car of leather - has faded mostly now (after 3 months) but I guess it is doing some good for the leather.

Yep, put my hands up - i use stubben saddle soap (with glycerine) and the RG Williams leather conditioner. It's great for the horses leather - but i'm not entirely convinced for the beasts interior - some wear on drivers seat and smell is not great. I intend to try the other 'products' listed here, when i get around to ordering. I will post and let you know.

I've used Saddle Soap and Conolly Hide Food to great effect, this was as I started, I'd just done the panel on the left:

You can see that it is a more uniform cream, rather than the grey/blue on the right. It was also 10 times softer after the treatment.

i used to be quite keen on detailing but it got a bit too OTT

i've got all the kit inc random machine polisher and all the pads etc

got the foam lance and about 50l of fluid!!

even got an expensive water filtration system - dubious results given the price?

use products from many companies as no one company produces the best range

things i particularly rate are the megs gold wash added to the foaming agent when using the lance

megs APC simply brilliant

all megs products for glass cleaning - be careful with tints!!!

megs bumper care - best for bringing back original 'black' colour without dyes etc

leather care - could write a book but will have to experiment with RR leather

interior trim - Poorboys

wheel wax - Poorboys - makes washing off brake dust etc a doddle - but apply 3 coats with 24hrs between coats

tyre gel - do not use - looks like cheap dealer sell on product!

wax - in my opinion Dodo Supernatural - high carnauba wax content and very easy to apply - not cheap at about £90/tub but lasts a long time

used to love Blackfire but the layering process with wax/polish made it hard work in the uk climate

microfibre cloths - if you can still get them the 'bundles' of yellow cloths from Costco - better than many costing 10x the price

having a clear out this weekend so will put some stuff up for sale - some i will give away
