Nav Computer repair

Just wanted to ask before I do open heart surgery on my nav computer - any nasties in the strip down I should be aware of?

If you are wondering why I am doing this - the nav computer has for a while been hit and miss as to finding any satellites or not. Recently it has got worse. The Nav unit seems to function and the map is fine etc (yes I have tried an external sat aerial) so I am thinking possible damp (no sign anywhere else) or dry joints etc. "On first name terms with my local Dealer......now."

Yes had my one apart as it would not eject the disc, but since then upgraded to the mk4 dvd unit. not much to them, main drive unit and main pcb at the base with aux pcb at the back and side. yes water damage can do some strange things so have a good look for signs of corrosion on the board it could be an easy fix
but you have noting to lose. V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

Ok - has to be one of the easiest jobs. MKIV unit removed and top and bottom panels unclipped to reveal ..... perfectly dry normal looking item.

Gave it a quick blast with air and checked for unseated ribbon connectors etc - reassembled and put back in car.

Nav boots up and sees satellites - no guarantee that it is fixed as it could just be having a good day but time will tell. "On first name terms with my local Dealer......now."
