BMW ULM Bluetooth 54 pin rewire..........

Does anyone know how to wire the BMW ULM module into the 54 pin connector thats in the boot ?

I touched on this in a post a bit back, but now I've got the car and the wiring is already there.

I was pointed towards a chap L322.com, but his links aren't working in his posts, and he hasn't posted in a while.

Another chap called Noddy appears to have done it, but there are no details of the wiring.

If it has to be rewired, what wss supposed to go on the connector originally ?

.....or where can I get the adapter from ? What is it called ?

Many thanks for helping what seems like my 400 questions in the first week of ownership !!

I did rewire mine using a diagram on L322.com. I also got a bit of guidance over the phone from the chap who ran the site. I didn't have any success though- It powered up, but i couldnt get any phone to see it over bluetooth.
I think I had a faulty ULF. I never revisited it as I didn't want to buy a 2nd module. 02 Vogue

I also got help from Adam at l322.com and in order to save my sanity got him to order and rewire a new section of loom. The Gen13 ULF I have works fine but never actually bothered wiring in the cradle as I changed phones mid build.....

I probably have the pin outs saved if you want them - send me a pm "On first name terms with my local Dealer......now."

Did you find the joy with this?

I've been looking for that Adam that ran the l322.com site, he looked like a mighty useful chap ...

I'm looking to renew my love of my L322 after investing in a new gearbox... I guess I'm going to stick with it for a while, so looking to do the Bluetooth upgrade...

Can anyone help or advise?

It's a silly question too, but if I do the sat Nav upgrade, will I loose the voice of the old one... The Sat Nav reader in the back has stopped working, but I don't want to lose the old 'voice' of my car.

Help

James

Hi James.

Still wanting to do the Bluetooth mod, but the rewire looks a bit scary.

I too would have liked to be able to buy a "converter loom" or an adapter of some kind for the rear connection.

I still don't know what "should" go on the cable in the boot. Logic dictates that something should go there, without needing a rewire, ie what Land Rover intended originally ?

I'd only had my car about 2 or 3 weeks when I upgraded to Mk4 sat nav, and I'm pretty sure the voice has changed. The Pro's outweigh the Con's though.

So, in essence, I still have what has turned out to be the gerneration 1 of the ULM module, sat in a jiffy bag in my workshop.

This is the "troublesome" ULM unit, but then it only cost me £40.

Thought I'd prove it all works before getting a better unit in the long run.

Does any one know how to get hold of this fabled Adam dude? Master of the loom, and keeper of the knowledge we seek?

Hi Andy, just so it’s clear if I change the pin order to that on your PDF, add a ULF/microphone and antenna I should get Bluetooth…..depending on which version ULF I get I guess…………., I don’t have a phone module installed but the wiring is there.

How do the pins or wires come out, is it a case of small long nose pliers, also where do you put the pins/wires that are not required?
