It’s a huge change from 6 months ago. I was still being quoted 2 years, subject to odd cancelled order.

It's simply that you can't recover the VAT on purchase, but then whether you have to charge VAT on disposal.
E.g. Buy for £110k incl.VAT, sell for £90k, but if you then have to charge VAT on sale ... |

I agree that you can't recover the VAT on buying.
I don't know if you need to charge VAT on the disposal? That would kill buying it. |
