3.6 TDV8 Engine Noise

Hi, I have started to have a stange 'chirping' / high pitched 'tweating' sound from the engine when it is under load between 2000 - 3000rpm. It isn't always there and you cannot make it make the noise when at a standstill and revving the engine. There is no loss of power and the car is still pulling smoothly but the noise is annoying.

Dealer first thought it was a split hose but without taking grill off and starting to look couldn't say for certain. Then I mentioned the TDV8 exhaust manifold problems on the RR sport and it was suddenly yes thats what it is... Don't want to book it in and pay dealer rates for them to start to look for the problem! It was bad enough when under warranty but if I'm paying for it I would rather find out on here. In my experience unless the diagnostics can tell the garage what is wrong then the success rate of finding and solving problems isnt great.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

An Indy might charge less but I was really looking to see if anyone else has had experience of this type of noise....

My car has the same problem they LR garage says it has the manifold exhaust studs broken in one side and makes the noise... and 2.400€ to fix it Shocked

There is any problem to keep car going with this problem or is better to fix as soon as posible, i thought it was some distribution belt or othe belt that when you need more power makes that noise while is more fast... but no!

This is a common problem?

2.400€ to fix some studs is crazy!!!

Thanks Ex-FULLFATTY now downgraded

Mine did this when I had it, it was the drivers side right hand one which had warped and snapped most of the studs.
Parts, Labour and vat was around £2,000.00.
Probably better sooner than later as possibly less snapped studs earlier in the issue than leaving it too long?

Mine has 168.000km.

Anyone knows why this happens? Is a common problem in the TDV8? Rolling Eyes Ex-FULLFATTY now downgraded

Sorry mate I’ve no idea. As far as I know it’s uncommon. A bit of bad luck I’d say. ______________________________

Gon, possibly take it back to see what LR say. My Indy put a stop leak sealant through my motor to stop a leak. It seems to have worked.

I guess the manifold stud fix is expensive as it requires engine removal? Mine as had head gaskets replaced. which required engine removal. In many vehicles this is possible in stiu.
