There was another thread on here where someone with a >2010 said theirs was softer. I guess there may be a chance you could put the 2010struts on?

As Stan said, its a standard no cost option ticked for every one that left the factory Very Happy

Newer dampers may help but i think ultimately the only way to go is some thick rubber feet/wedges on the lid to dull the impact... FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

I think the struts and dampers are the same thing as they do perform both functions Very Happy FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Something else to check, are both of the catches working on the lower tailgate? If only one works (as we are finding more often as the cars get older) The top tailgate gets much harder to close (and much much LOUDER!!!)

Close your bottom tailgate as normal, then grab the top corner one side at a time and see if you can move it forward and back. It should be quite obvious if its not catching. If it does not catch on one side, open and either push or pull (i cannot remember which) the little plastic lever on top of the catch (looks alittle like a plastic shield) then re-close the lower tailgate and it should work. It basically means the catch does not latch correctly or automatically any longer and moving the plastic lever to either the forward or rearward position lets the catch work manually...

Then close your top tailgate and you should find its a hundred times nicer to close (if the lower latches are at fault)

Craig Thumbs Up

Thanks lads for the suggestions, I'll check it out.. See what I can come up with, maybe add some padding on certain areas if I can't find anything wrong.

I will check the dampers too, when I close mine it sounds terrible and cheap. Waiting for the lower tailgate mod parts from Dan will do both together. Tom
