Yes. Timpson key cutting shop,

Request to speak to the branch manager and advise him that you wish to get 2chips coded, he can do it while you wait, have the car with you.

The will give you a chip then for both the new fob and your original one.

Use you spare key to get it all sorted.

Can understand what has happened to the original chip, as it does not even see power to it, just energy waves from the code transmitter wich react within the coil in the chip.

Did you insulate it before sticking to the board?

Have you tried putting the original key in barrel, and putting the chip near it on its own??? Current vehicles

i have been speaking to matt,he has had some probs, cant see what has happened to his chip, as mentioned it has no power to it , has any one had any similar probs with chips.. i can understand it locking up if you use a chip from another car, but not ever heard of a chip loosing its code...well not until now.

yes tried putting my original transponder near the ignition but it doesn't do anything anymore (no more clicking noise unlocking the steering column) i dont have a spare key anymore as the transponder that i used for the flip key came from my spare, i have got the blade cut for a fiver but now i need a new transponder. No didnt insulate it as the one that came with the key wasnt insulated so didnt even think about doing that! dam!! Censored

There is one on the boards when you get them, these are covered in a sticky tape all over.

The is no reason known currently what has happen to Matts, as there is no electrical current to flow through the chip, only the transmitter wave it broadcasts which causes a code to be sent out of the chip.

This is what unlocks the barrel only for rotation. Current vehicles

I used one at Berryden in Aberdeen,

Phone round a couple of key smiths in your area and ask who can do laser keys , they will know who's machine is working properly in your areas.

I call the head office customer service line first of Timpson and explained what I required.

HQ then said I could get it done on the arrangement I sign a no liability with them, as some idiot had agreed and then took then to court for a key failure in the ignition!!!

They rang the named branch I wished to use and the manager agreed to do X and Y.

They are linked to the national data base for the codes, and when they scan the original key it is authenticated to allow them, as authorised agents, to produce another chip for a new key.

You do get a guarrentee on the new chip this way though!!

They do not sell the button fobs, only a key for the door/ignition with the chip to allow starting. Current vehicles

Yes, but they will refuse to cut the key , unless you speak to HQ first for authorisation with a no liability agreement on the cutting of the key.

So long as it opens the door it should be okay.

Mine was okay in one way but stiff in the other way round in the ignition switch, but after a few days use it fine any which way.

This issue is the liability, so long as the manager agrees after HQ has spoken to the branch , it's easy, but you will need the car for the coding process for them.

Take good original key, the new fob and blade before fitting is easier for them in the machine, and they do the rest and will supply a new chip for the new fob too.

Remember you must trim a wee bit out of the fob to prevent braking the slightly longer chip in a 3mm glass tube!!!!!

Then follow as advised, start with new fob cable tied to allow charging, then Daves programming steps with all keys,

Once all is good, you can carefully glue the key together, I used small placed drops of Loctite 495' worked first time, but will never be opened!!!!!!!' Current vehicles

Matt, is there an "original" transponder in the new flip key ?? I used a second hand key with a transponder, together with a transponder of an old key of my car. Didn't work so I removed the transponder of the second hand key and it worked. Also the transponder needs to be very close to the lock, in the old style key it is at the edge of the housing. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Hi guys, I need a bit of help with this one ...

I have a L322 2005 (manufactured in late 2004) with td6 engine here in Australia.

The original key has failed (remote has stopped working) and according to the dealer I need a new key from LR in UK.

I have purchased a new flip key from China.
They sent me the USA version with 315 mhz.
I need to order the replacement 433 mhz components.
Is it the remote PCB or the transponder chip that has the 433 mhz frequency?

My local auto locksmith tells me that he can programme both the remote and transponder and cut the blade.

I know about the remote programming method as per LR manual - is anything else required to get a remote going?

Has anyone had the Chinese transponder chip programmed OK?

Does the flip key charge OK in my older style L322 dash?

Any up to date help much appreciated. 1989 RRC with GMC 6.5td

One question: when gluing the two parts together (which certainly is needed, since there is no screws to hold the top and bottom parts of the flip keys together otherwise), how can you replace battery in the flip key in the future?
