Side vent removal: how?

Ok, I feel like a newbie now, and yes I DID search for this but came up with nowt. I looked in RAVE and there is no description on how ot remove the 'side panel vents'.

How do I remove the side vents? I can see the obvious top bolt but guess there's a lower one, can't see how to access the lower half. It looks to me as if you have to remove the wheel arch liner and mudflap to access the lower front panel, remove that and THEN you can get to the lower bolt holding the vent in place.

Someone please end my misery! Big Cry

Hi adam, there is another bolt hidden behind the small panel below the vent. Open the door and peer into the gap - you will be able to see the clips for the small panel, just pull the panel out from the car / off gently and you will see the fittings behind it. Its a GRP panel so it is fairly strong and won't break - the clips are replacable if you have a problem.

Vogue, does this include if you have mudflaps fitted?

your answer sounds great but too easy!

Looks to me as if I will be removing the mudflaps, then maybe trying your method

Hi Adam,

yes you will have to remove the mudflaps. they are screwed directly through the flap into this small panel, there was a thread on RRNet about 18 months ago where somebody wanted to remove the mudflaps and found that there were screw holes left in this small panel.

I just opened the drivers door on mine and through the gap pushed the panel off easing the clips out gently, from memory there are one or two screws through the wheel arch side of the flap into the arch liner / edge of wing panel area.

Yeah, just taken a look and I would agree. 2 of the 3 screws for the mudflap going into that lower panel, easy to remove the mudflap.

Just hope I don't trash the clips as they always seem to break. Discovery 4 HSE
