I've only just joined this forum so be gentle if this next question has been done a million times.

I was looking for a TD6 due to cheaper running costs and had been thinking of getting it chipped so that there might be talk of 35mpg.

What are you getting out of the 4.4?

What's the tax like?

What about servicing costs or anything that may be due sometime soon?

Maybe you or someone can convince me to get a petrol rather than a diesel.

Angelboy - welcome to the forum....

A TD6 will never do 36mg as I owned one before and had it chipped, and I got about 25 mpg max but maybe others can assist here.

What are you getting out of the 4.4? Well the answer is about 15-18mpg. I'm just doing plenty of driving at weekends so using my 911 more for the summer so hence the sale of the car as I thought about a TDV8 but I'd rather wait and see if I can lease a L405 in 2013.

What's the tax like? I think it's about the same as a diesel. I think I paid about 230 for six months.

What about servicing costs or anything that may be due sometime soon? It's due a service but nothing is causing any MOT issues and I've just replaced my radiator so there is nothing needing done to it, it's running well.

Maybe you or someone can convince me to get a petrol rather than a diesel. - Well Petrol drives much better and the chuggy ness and vibrations of the diesel put me off it this time around as I had one with 20's on it and it was sitting at the traffic lights vibrating, and I like 20/22" wheels on my RR's.

They are both good cars in sum up, I just prefer a petrol for the above reasosn, but some might say it's better having a diesel.

P all smug in my new plug!

Not sure I agree with that mate, I've had about 5 offers of 7500 for my car, clearly a trade figure, but I also declined an offer last week of 8k as I had already a buyer but the deal fell through to his partners ill health so couldn't be avoided as I think he was a genuine buyer. I went back to the guy offering 8k and he had bought one instead of mine. Some you win some you lose!! Wink

Anyway I think at this level of money there is plenty of buyers, they are just being fussy and trying to be a trade buyer when they aren't trade.

I don't mind giving a trade figure to traders as it's their job and they don't try and hit you when they see it, they've already a greed a price, but it's the part-time wannabe traders who are buying for themselves and want it all their own way, and see the car, offer a price then come see it and try and whack the price down!!

Gary offerred me a fair trade price on here and if the deal had gone through I'd have been happy for that to work as it's his job but there are a few cheeky offers that clearly think I'm bursting for the cash when I'm not.

Just a bit disappointed in some people considering it's a cheap car as it is, yet they want more off it!! all smug in my new plug!

hi mate, to be honest at sub £10k like yours you are probably right, but i reckon north of £15k like i am asking for mine i just dont think that private buyers are buying them, so you might be ok with yours mate, it does look like a nice car. i have resigned myself to not selling mine so i am going to do some upgrading of it i think instead....

If it was about 4 weeks ago and you weren't 5 1/2 hours away I would come an have a look. Based on the ones I have looked at locally it is in good shape at a very good price, but I am struggling tp travel. (+ the oh hasn't decided what colour she wants lol) cheers

Totally agree with you there Andy!

In order to sell my TDV8, I stuck it on eBay & got an almighty kick in the nuts on price Shocked

Positive side is that it has now gone, I have bought a cheaper FFRR & the new kitchen is on order, albeit with a greater contributuon from our bank account!

I also think that psychologically peeps have say a £10k threshold, above which they want/need the comforts of a dealer e.g. Sale of Goods Act protection, part-ex, finance, warranty etc and you just don't get that on a private sale - caveat emptor & all that!

Enough now, good luck to everyone trying to sell Thumbs Up Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

Regards TD6 mpg, mines had a tunit thing fitted , on a motorway run i regularly get 33mpg, but that requires no more than 60mph, around town, utter pish 16-18mpg. Average with mixture is aroung 25mpg.

Mr Tee, love the "utter pish" quote, I love how the Scottish accent gets round profanity filtering on a forum!! lol

So I was probably right about overall, but not many do much motorway which is why I kinda said the figure I said. I don't think much improvement happened until the TDV8 came in.

I have been lucky to own both and I like the the smotthness of the petrol better tbh, but I get why people buy a TD6, still a great car. all smug in my new plug!

I do think that I may have done a full circle and think about going for a petrol/LPG FFRR.

The difference in fuel economy between the TD6 and the V8 don't seem to be that great and the gearbox problems on the TD6 puts me off. I know the LPG conversion also cause problems but I bet they're easier to remedy than a new/re-con gear box at £2k+

Sorry CUE99T, I think this thread is going off topic. Whistle
