T-Boned!

Just been heavily t-boned by some old boy in (strangely!) an Integra Type R. Traffic-light controlled junction, I'm on green, he ran the red and walloped me very heavily.

First witness to stop was an off-duty police inspector! So that *should* make things easy - he backed up the fact that the 3rd [party ran the red, and called the local BiB who came along and booked him on the spot.

Just on the phone to my insurers, I'll provide damage details shortly.

Top tip - don't put it through on your insurance - claim directly off his. That protects your no-claims better (sometimes the insurance co's have agreements not to claim off each other - you end up arguing the toss at renewal time) and use the repairer of your choice - not theirs.

Because he'd still have been coaxing it to pull away as the lights changed again!

iAd this happen to me (I was on motorbike) and I just contacted their insurers, gave them the quotes, they sent a claims assessor who wanted to write off my bike, but as it was 18 months old the offer of the value was derisory. Told them not an option and they had it rebuilt by Honda.

Also had a goldwing off them as replacement while mine was being fixed.

Simes, the 3rd party insurer (Aviva) called me direct after I spoke to Admiral and they have indeed accepted ful liability and have undertaken to get the repairs done and to cover a "large 4x4" hire car, as they say that this will still be massively cheaper than paying the imtermediate company rates for all that. Plus, I don;t have to pay out a bean - not my excess (and claim it back) or anything, so it all seems good.

So for the ghouls amogst you:

At first glance it doesn;t look bad:

But then look a bit closer - this is the top of the NSR door:

So I think the B pillar has had a proper whack. There's also some watery fluid coming out of a black plastic assembly under the NSR passenger floor..... Question The passenger front door is boogered, it's split right through to the inside, the side step is trashed in several places - then there are the cosmetic aspects such as the wheel, which is scuffed, and the rear bumper.

Also, oddly, the large rear number plate is "bulging" in the middle. I'm hoping this is unrelated - but I guess it's possible that there's more of a twist in the car than I realise.

As above, I'm very relieved I was in the FFRR. It's a 40mph limit and I suspect he didn't brake - so in a regular car, it might have been very different.

Here are a couple of pics of the 'Teg:

What it doesn't really show is that the whole thing has been pushed sideways. I guess that's a write-off. Mate of mine who has been repairing cars for a living for the past 25 years thinks mine's at risk too, but I can't really see that.

Sorry to hear this Cappo and glad your OK.

if you were in the 20vt it would be off to CarlT or the modern equiv im sure by now as a TL Sad

Being honest here but if the B pillar has taken even a dent i can see that yours is going to be classed as the same Sad

get everything you can out of it asap before it gets picked up as you may never see it again if this happens (worst case scenario!) as its been known for owners cars to be sold off before they have even accepted the valuation in the past....

It will need both doors, trim panels, airbags for the doors, internal door parts as i'd bet the wiring would be at risk of damage and possibly the window motors and locks as well. The door handles and glass would swap over though and that sidestep is a PITA as they cant be bought solo IIRC so thats another £400+ on the quote for them. Also as the doors would need paint the boot and the bonnet would need blending in, possibly even some of the drivers side if the rear bumper is on the replacement list as well, and some roof as well as its black...

TBH i dont think its going to be far off at least £5-6k if not more as a respray like that would be nearly a full car respray (£2k+) then door parts, sidestep, alloy, tyre(£3k) i'd reckon!

Sorry fella but i'd rather give you worst case scenario then if its any better its all good Smile

Do you think you could find another replacement? FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

What, you mean something like an 07 TDV8 in Stornoway?? Whistle

Laughing I love the car, it's great, but if it did go I think I could replace with something just as nice, or better - I know more what I should be looking for now. This one is exceptionally clean outside though, and is/was on a pretty good mileage (just clicked over the 50k last week, 43k when I bought it).

Well good residual then so the replacement value from the insurance co shouldn't be too bad but don't think you'll get a TDV8 unless super cheap for the payout really Sad But keep fingers crossed for you Very Happy FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

If I or one of my colleagues turned up at that scene and saw that we would automatically report it as a V23 flag on PNC. This basically means the car is a loss. Even if it isnt the marker stays on PNC which clearly would put off buyers etc.
People who have access to this info class it as cat D. The good news is if its repaired unreported damage its not recorded anywhere. Main thing is nobody is injured. Smile
