Newbie questions.

Hi all,

So I'm picking up my first FFRR (in fact my first Land Rover) in a week or so.

It's a 2007 (07) Supercharged Vogue SE.

The car is currently being prepped, but I have a few questions.

When I hit the 'phone' button in the car (when I was test driving it) I got a "phone not fitted" message. Does this mean that the car doesn't have Bluetooth? How can I tell? It definitely has a Nokia bit of hardware in the boot with the DVD changer (it has the rear entertainment package) and a phone cradle (not sure for which handset) in the armrest.

Also - what are my iPod options? I'd really like a properly integrated kit that allows control of the iPod from the steering wheel, but just being able to listen to it would be a start.

And finally (!) is there any way I can check the spec online uaing either the VIN or reg plate or is it just a case of ringing a dealer?

Sorry if these are dumb questions...am really looking forward to getting the car though! Thumbs Up Past (too many to list, but a few favs)...

Hi

Welcome along. Thumbs Up

The Phone not Fitted message is because the Bluetooth isn't paired with any phone in range at that time

iPod - not so easy. I went for a Brodit kit with dock connector feed into the Aux socket, but there's no wheel integration with that (only volume). There used to be an LR accessory (v costly) that did this but I think it's now discontinued...? Someone correct me.

No idea about the VIN question, sorry. Graham

Re audio ....just been around this myself ....

You need LandRover part VPLME0004 .... £400+ though .... best to get from Yeovil Landrover who offer the forum discount ...

The part number theoretically only works with 2009 + but it does work on earlier models and I have just fitted it to my own 2007 RR TDV8

Thanks chaps.

Two more dumb questions.

1. Where's the AUX socket - is it in the glovebox with the Clarion changer and the venture cam?

2. What are the connections into the AUX - standard 3.5mm jack or RGB type?

I think given the outlay of buying the car I'll go with the the AUX option until next pay day, then I may invest in the proper LR solution.

Thanks again for the speedy reponses. Past (too many to list, but a few favs)...

Cool thanks guys.

And that's the only AUX is it, in the back? I'm not a fan of wires trailing through the cabin, but it looks like it's that or stump up £400!! Past (too many to list, but a few favs)...

I have the Land Rover option in my 06my and its worth every penny... Full integration, you keep your CD changer and its neat with no wired dangling around the car... FYI, the LRO kit is made by dension and is basically a gateway 500 with a Land Rover badge on the front (hence you wont find one available from dension for the FF)

Bargain hard! I got mine from Land Rover for £340

Craig Thumbs Up

I've only ever had 'proper' ipod integrations, I had a Mobridge in my 911 and the Merc system in my ML420, I'm really not a fan of cheapo Aux / FM solutions...will just have to get my wallet out I guess! Rolling Eyes Past (too many to list, but a few favs)...

There's a trifle more than £400 between what I paid for my car and what I would have had to pay for an '09 model... Wink Past (too many to list, but a few favs)...

How easy / difficult did you find this Craig? I did the kit in my ML myself - it was a doddle to be honest. Is this kit just plug and play as well? Past (too many to list, but a few favs)...
