Daytime Running Lights

While waiting for a BBS software patch update to sort my Paddle Shift I've been playing with my Faultmate and the CCF settings on my 2010MY FFRR Rolling Eyes

Today I thought I would try enabling the Daytime Running Lights just to see what happens, I wasn't expecting much as everything I have read about DRL's on the Disco3 forum implies that when enabled they switch on the dipped headlights and rear lights as well Shocked Seems a bit daft to me as why not just turn the light switch to 'on' Laughing

Anyway whether the FFRR is different or not I'm very pleased to say that ONLY the front LED side lights come on with DRL enabled Cool So for now I'm leaving them activated Whistle

There are a few other "options" to play with in the CCF and perhaps I will compile a list of enablements that can be achieved Thumbs Up

Oh just to clarify this relates to 2010MY onwards Wink

How about leaving them off? The clue's kinda in the name - daytime lights? For the daytime? Like, when it's light anyway? They are my biggest pet hate these days - especially when I'm driving the TT or mk2 when they're right in your eyeline and you can't even adjust the mirrors to stop them blinding you. In the daytime. Seriously, what is the point in them, other than to blind everyone and Censored me off? Censored

The LED side lights on a FFRR are hardly going to blind anyone and I've had brighter light from a keyring torch but some may want it. Rolling Eyes

With DRL's now law on all brand new models I fear for misteralz blood pressure over the coming months and years Laughing I suggest driving just your FF from now on as its only going to get worse Whistle

That's because LR "Computer Says No!" There is quite a bit that Faultmate can but the stealer can't Whistle

Happy to oblige sometime if you want them on Wink

There are many things the OEM T4/IDS diagnostic system can not do as the SW is written to help dealers set up cars - not make customers happy. So options like DRL or one touch window operation (not allowed in some countries) are part of a whole slew of settings that the T4/IDS makes when setting up for a certain country.

This is where tools like the Faultmate or ours can really shine because they let you access these options individually.

Just out of curiosity Ajay: does the 2010> only have one option for the DRLs? Would make sense due to the LEDs. (We haven't looked at the 2010> yet. No easy display to work with Laughing )

RRV - I do occasionally venture north of the M4 so I wouldn't completely it rule out and it's only a 5 minute job Whistle

SteveMFr - One to activate DRL + both the Scandinavian and Canadian enable options if that helps Thumbs Up

Thanks Andy,
So no more main beam 40% and the like - and why? You have LEDs!

The Scandinavian option leaves DRLs on all the time while the Canadian only turns them on when the vehicle is in drive (or leaves park or some such) - IIRC. So you can add that option to yours... Laughing

I wouldn't completely rule it out but unlikely in the short term but patience Mick there maybe other things you fancy enabled once I've compiled a list Laughing and surely it would be best to do it all at once, well it would for me Whistle

My 2010 DRL option was activated by the dealer ... so I'm not sure why people think LR can't do it. Land Rover Addict

Andy, I know this thread is years old - but just wondered, the DRL enable you did on a FFRR, can that CCF change also be done with IID Tool? (just the LED's at the from on all the time essentially)?

Thanks Smile
