Overfinch Defender?

Since when did Overfinch start doing Defenders?

Looking at this one, they have taken a stock new Defender for £28K, added some bling and charged an extra £30K.

Ridiculous

Overfinch of old did Defenders too (not just glueing tat on them).

Everyone is jumping on the stupid-wheels-and-inappropriate-seats Defender bandwagon, must be ten places ruining them at the moment. Even Land Rover are in at it.

I do prefer originality or, things that still look like they could be OEM parts added.(Hence my hatred of chrome stick on bits)

Jazzed up Defenders can look stunning, and I don't think the Overfinch ones are too bad looking, it's the arrogance of the price tag that offends me.

If you look at the Nene Overland Defender Icon models, they are at least affordable and still look nice. I saw this one at Billing a few weeks ago and I really liked it, and it's only £35K as opposed to £58K of the Overfinch.

The JE Engineering ones are far more interesting.

Why would you pay that much for something that doesnt even come with satnav or a half decent radio/speaker setup?!?! You could get an old 4.4 FFRR for hammering offroad and a good one for one road for that money!! FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

I still don't get it though. 58 grand = Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter What've you been smoking? and even 35 grand for something that amounts to an L200 is laughable.

In fact, the L200 is a better vehicle in most respects.
1. You can't actually hear it rusting like you can a defender. Well, in fairness, you can't hear ANYTHING in a defender.
2. They don't leak oil
3. The door seals actually seal
4. Air-con
5. Elbow room
6. 99% less likely to get pinched.
7. Heater.
8. Gearbox not made out of pig iron.
9. Fuel economy in double digits

Etc, Etc.

Defender Icon ??? The only iconic thing about those is the cost. It's an iconic pi55take.

I had the misfortune to run a 2005 TD5 110 County for 2 years as my everyday transport. I still shudder just thinking about it.

if you need one for work then fine. They do a decent job and are infinitely customisable to do/be what you need.

As everyday transport though?? or a toy even ?? Well, if you can afford 35 grand to spend on a toy, and you choose one of these, you need a check up from the neck up. There are far nicer toys to be had for 35 grand.

I agree, they are old fashioned in design and comfort, no matter what you do to them, but you either have a pure passion for the iconic Land Rover or you don't. I do.

hence, why I have this in my garage as a toy that cost less than ten grand but gives me great pleasure with tinkering and improving.

England 2011 Range Rover Autobiography TDV8 Santorini Black

I still love the simplicity and purity of the Defender. It is the ultimate classic off road car, and I think it looks much better than a Jeep. I think I would get one with the open top next time.

My old series III was slow, noisy and uncomfortable, but every time I drove it was fun and an experience. Nobody ever cut me up too which is a good job as the brakes were as effective as biscuits after dipping in tea. But I would get one in a shot if I had the opportunity. Tom
