Made in Spain under Land Rover licence Stan, They are basically a Land Rover/Iveco hybrid for want of a better explanation! The tailgate is wider as is the boot floor, the bodywork is mostly identical to a Defender with the exclusion of the front end which has now been changed as i prefer the Defender front... It has the bullet proof 2.8 common rail Iveco diesel engine. And quirks that are taken straight from a series Land Rover, parabolic leaf springs, selectable 2 or 4WD...

But just as my wife did with the old series, she loves it! Yes its slightly more bouncy than a Defender but if you put a small amount of weight in it its much better (hence the Disco 11 trim being fitted) as its very heavy!

Craig Thumbs Up

The engine is the 2.8 TGV that is basically a 2.5 300Tdi but bored or stroked to 2.8 litres with a variable-vane turbo for better torque and power delivery. Something around 135bhp or thereabouts, so I believe.

The Santata also has the old Series selectable 2wd/4wd system.

Nice job, Craig!

Thought it was a Fire and Ice edition at first glance, but the door handles, non-TdCi bonnet bulge and slightly different colour scheme got me looking harder.

Nice touch with the rear LR mudflaps. Thumbs Up

I'm told interior quality isn't that good, compared to a Defender, but I think your planned modifications will help a lot anyway.

Leaf springs can work very well indeed, if lubricated correctly.

Out if interest, what stops you fitting in a standard 110? I'm a similar height and have a smaller diameter steering wheel that helps considerably and a set of MUD rails that lifts the seat up another 1" and provides another 2" of rearward travel. Si. <This is my name.

Have tried but could not drive any distance and certainly wouldn't change the Santana for the driving position of a 110...

Believe it or not, 1 mile down the road!

When given the choice, she wanted something alittle different... We haven't played too much with Defenders so i didn't mind making her one... And yes, thus far she loves the results...

The 2.8TGV engine should easily cruise at 70mph if the gearing is right, which I suspect it is.

My 300Tdi 110 with a ported head, HUGE intercooler and VNT (and decent gearing) will cruise at 80mph quite happily. Si. <This is my name.
