So the stats on those cars would be the one with the Turbo and the less weight and more road bias by having fatter tyres no doubt, got a fair old lead on the FF which was NA, heavierm and designed to work in snow and mud??

I wonder how an SC and standard turbo compare...
This is more like it...

&feature=fvwrel

And the cayenne Turbo is just over 2 tonnes.
An FF is about 2.6
An SS is about 2.7 IIRC.

Fair old weight advantage there... FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Australia 2008 Range Rover Supercharged 4.2 SC V8 Rimini Red

It's obvious that the Cayenne should be faster but just the other day I was coming up Loch Fyne in convoy with a X5 desisel , an ML diseisel and in front was a Mk 1 Cayenne Turbo and when the road opened out we all thought we would be heroes ( too much of a coincidence I suppose ) and the two tractors simply fell away but the porker was holding me up , I guess some of the horses escape with age or poor maintenance . 2008 MY Supercharged

Basic test:
You pull up at lights in your Cayenne, in the next lane a FF SC pulls up (AB in your favourite colour Wink ), would you look over and think, I wish I was in that Question

Personally I think the Cayenne's are a bit of a Marmite car, on looks alone. I'm sure from an engineering point of view they'll be great. It's just not for me.

Maybe I'm still in the honeymoon period, but regardless of any other car I see day to day, I always feel 'king of the road' in mine....

The Cayennes aren't bad technically and drive extremely well (though a bit harsh if you ask me) but they are not nearly as nice to look at as an FFRR. I still love driving my FFRR S/C (especially after 4 weeks of X-trail) and wouldn't go for a Cayenne. The FFRR S/C is nicer to look at and has more "class" than a Cayenne will ever have.

Unfortunately Porsches suffer a bit (more) from the Cheshire syndrome than FFRRs. So when you are talking about nice shoes and suits that you regularly wear for work then it sounds more FFRR class than Cayenne brashness to me Smile

Besides don't you have full service petrol stations in the UK anymore ???? I don't get out of my car here to get fuel (no my driver is not filling up for me Wink) or in SA. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

I guess ebajema has hit on the point.

Go to the petrol stations that have the attended service. A few Shell stations in my area are doing this now.

My 2p - it'd be the RR every time. The Porsche's an engineering feat, no doubt, but the fact that it's as big and as bulky as it is with so little offroad prowess and so much 'Cheshire' about it... No, not for me. Researching my first Range Rover purchase

Oily pumps have been less of a problem for me the last couple of years. I used to dread going to fill up because of the slimy handles and pipes on the the pump when I first got the FFRR but my experience of late is that it is not a problem. I use Tescos (points and 5p/10p of a litre on occasion) and they seemed to have cleaned up their act with this one. Yes, still a few spillages on the concrete by the pump but my trick is to go to the wrong side (filler on far side to the pump) then you don't have to stand in the diesel puddle. Thumbs Up .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink

Are we forgetting that Diesel & petrol pumps are side by side so even when filing with Petrol I often step in the Diesel pond and get slimy diesel all over my feet!!!

PS: Sorry Joe did not read your tip Thumbs Up

PPS: I would only get the very latest Cayenne just don't like the older ones, wrong image, VERY ugly. The new ones look great and are amazing inside.

PPPS: I would still get a New RR over New Cayenne though Thumbs Up

Another option is to switch to an LPG S/C, assuming LPG pumps in the UK are separate from petrol/diesel pumps like in Holland ?? MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

My local station (and quite a lot of ohers) have pumps which are petrol only. I always used to use those Gaz.
