SUSPENSION FAULT! WHAT TO DO?

I suppose it was only a matter of time before my motor developed a fault which would be displayed on the dash that cant be an easy fix Evil or Very Mad

I a;ways ;eave my car in access mode, yesterday just as i was loading it up and getting ready for a longish drive i noticed that on the dash it said "INACTIVE AIR SUSPENSION" and i could not adjust the suspension in the usual manner! now the suspension was in normal driving mode so i stilldid the trip but on the way home a counter came up on the dash aswell and it keeps counting down then counting up.

Does anybody have any ideas as to what it could be and is it an easy fix, or is it a trip to the Stealers?

Cheers in anticipation of your replies Thumbs Up

Envoy,happy Xmas mate.

When I owned your motor that message came up once and then never returned. Also HDC inactive used to pop up now and again.Nothing to worry about I would say, just the cold snap playing havoc with the RR electrics.

Oh yes and last winter the whole stereo system stopped working, sat nav aswell.Cleaned out the NS rear from damp etc and never had a problem since. If you have nothing nice to say,say nothing at all.

Got this from the manual

Fault Messages
The air suspension has two methods which it can use to inform the driver of a fault in the air suspension system; the
air suspension control switch LED's and the instrument pack message centre.
When minor faults occur and the air suspension ECU is able to level the vehicle to the 'current' ride height, the control
switch LED's will display the current ride height. When the vehicle returns to the standard ride height and further height
changes are disabled, the 'HOLD' LED in the control switch will be permanently illuminated.
The air suspension ECU suffers a major failure and there is no air suspension control, all the control switch LED's will
remain unlit.
If a fault occurs and the ECU can determine the ride height and the vehicle is not above standard ride height, the driver
will be notified via a 'AIR SUSP. INACTIVE' message in the message centre. If the ECU cannot determine the height
of the vehicle, or the vehicle is above standard ride height and cannot be lowered, the 'AIR SUSP. INACTIVE'
message is accompanied with an alternating 'MAX 35MPH' message. If you like it, who cares what other people think

Thanks guys for all your suggestions, advice and help. No good so far, have tried Daveo's suggestion and had no joy also had a look for a fuse and cant find one! will try disconnecting the battery tomorrow and see if that does anything.

Mine says on my obc "air sus inactive" and nothing else. on the control switch the normal driving position is lit up and the inhibitor light is lit. The suspension is still automactically self leveling as i have watched it but i just cnt adjust it myself so it cant be much to sort it out? hopefullly Rolling Eyes

Gold thimble sized valve? It may have been removed at some point, as mine was.

Took the car to the garage today to get the suspension sorted, they pluged in the computer and the fault said "not enough air getting to the reciever" They reckon it is down to the very cold temp! whatever the reason its ok now and it works fine! At least it didnt cost me a small fortune Very Happy Thumbs Up
