removing small scratches - Java black

got a few scratches, look like from clothes, jeans etc on the door of the FFRR, whats the best way to get rid of them?

Last time I removed scratches was about 15 years ago with t-cut Laughing I'm sure things have moved on somewhat since

Cheers

Not really, though t-cut is frowned upon here because of it's formulation.

Try Meguairs or Autoglym products to remove scratches.

If you are really keen get an orbital polisher and get detailing like the pros.

Check out the wiki and search the forum for further information or

Nothing wrong with T Cut. Smile

T Cut could well remove a lot of the scratches, anything deep enough to catch a finger nail when pulled across a scratch will need lacquer/paint applied until its proud of the surface and then rubbed down and repolished.

This is a good write up.

Cheers guys
Have ordered (after couple of hrs reading reviews on Amazon) some Farecla scratch remover, will give that a go. Think I'm going to invest in a clay bar and give her a damn good seeing too when I get the time Laughing

2006 Range Rover Autobiography Td6 Java Black

Hi there, I have java black and tried all the scratch removers out there!

None worked!

The only way to remove scratches is investing in a machine polisher!

I bought a silver line polisher with x3 different softness heads plus a sheep skin finishing head!

I then bought x 3 bottles of maguires professional cutting polish! You can only buy it on the Internet and you use one polishe for each head!

It will take you a full day to polish the car x3 times but I guranteed you the results are 100% brand new paint work!

On panels I thought needed painting all it needed was polishing!

Hello Scratch sufferer

Farclea G3 works like magic. It does give a much better result if its done by a smart repairer who would use a mop. I sell a few cars and the rule is if you can get your nail caught in the scratch then its a spray to the panel, if its surface it will buff out.

You can cheat with black though - I admit to have used "colour magic" coloured car wax which comes with a touch in stick - like a black lip stick. You wash the panel, rub the stick across the scratch and it fills in the scratch. You then wipe it off and put the black wax over the top - it works well for a few washes but its no long term fix.

Hope you get a result with something! 2005 L322 Vogue Gold gone

Farclea G3 is good but three rules:

1. You can't polish a turd
2. A scratch through the paint (fingernail) cannot be polished out.
3. Professional Painting a single panel to factory standard is relatively cheap.

Thumbs Up

The only way to get rid of them for good is to machine polish the car then a good coat of 'tough' wax or sealant to try to protect the paintwork, have a look on my website and you will see the sort of results on Java Black Smile

I have that silverline rotary as well. I was advised though not to use the standard pads or backplate that came with it . Bit of a brute to get used to when holding good excercise too ! Present :2008 TDV8 HSE

After being inspired by this (and other) threads, I dropped by Machinemart today to get some pads for my rotary polisher. I had intended to mail order some Meguiars compounds, but MM were selling this stuff, so we'll see how it does!
