Wiring up Rear Reflectors as Rear DRL's

As the title says. There seems to be enough space to get some strip LED's in there, just a case of running the wiring back to the front of the car to link up with the fronts.

Thought about it as you describe.
Someone on Disco 3 did it but the results were pretty feeble and he never persued it further.
Presumably you would need very bright leds.
Probably easier to fit leds into the rear tail lights in addition to bulbs or even arrange for the tail lights to be on when drl's are lit.

Hmmm, thinking about this way of doing it as my DRL's at the front (in the fog lights) are linked into the headlight live feed, not using a navcoder/RAC/IID Tool fix.

My nirvana would be DRLs on front and back along with internal dash panel lights (in the binnacle / can hardly see the dash even in broad daylight, not like my Audi which has illumination/luminosity all the time.

How to get wiring from back to front - what's the best route externally ? .

You could take the wiring over the roof Smile but I think it would be better underneath. Plenty of room under there. I would sleeve the cable with 10mm convoluted sleeving to give a bit of protection, also looks more professional.
Be interested to know what you do for the rear lights.

Alternatively could fit a second DRL unit just for the rear. Is there an ignition live feed at the tail lights that I can then route cable from to the bumper? .

@Joe
Fuse 8 on the rear fuse board appears to be ignition controlled and doesn't serve anything. You could use a piggy-back fuse holder in it and run direct to your lights, no need for a Drl relay.

Yes, can't see the point in turning them off/dim on the rear, I doubt you could get the reflectors bright enough to cause a problem at night. Just use them as supplementary rear lights.

How about using the red/amber side markers, like in the US market models? Researching my first Range Rover purchase

@ stan

Would look pants only if not done right Thumbs Up

@ nicey

Thanks for the tip about fuse 8.

Would use a second DRL dongle thingy, just for the rears, which might allow dimming when lights come on. I'll have to have a think about this as the benefit of linking to the front DRL's is that they are wired into the headlights so when headlights come on they dim by @ 50% (this is what my front DRL's do now).

Just like the idea of being automatically lit up at both ends on start up (there is probably a cue there for Joker or 47p2!!), using only low powered LEDs, instead of having to switch on the sidelights. .
