Water in spare wheel well

Hi everyone. Hope your New Year was fab! Have just found large amount of water in spare wheel well. Any ideas where it comes from and do I need to clear/unblock a drain or bung it up? think this may have been cause of ubiquitous EAS not working fault! Crying or Very sad

What colour is the water? I only ask because my compresor failed last month after playing up for a couple of months and I had brown/orangy water in the spair well which I suspect was being blown out of the acumulator tank.
Trouble is I am in Australia at the moment and haven't spoken the stealers about the problem.
If it is the compresor expect trouble getting a new one because Catapiler handle the spairs and have put all their stock in the wrong boxes causing untold confusion. But otherwise let's hope it's somthing much simpler. 2008 MY Supercharged

Hi Axle, thanks for the speedy reply. The water is browny/purple. I think it may well be the compressor but it shouldn't have any water in the compressor should it, as it is a dry system I thought?

So did I and like I said I'm in no place to ask the stealers any questons right now, all I know at the moment is that it's fixed but it took the best part of a month to marry all the parts up because of Catapilers fowl up. 2008 MY Supercharged

Just taken out the spare tyre and the underneath downside is covered in a slimy brown oily gunk. hopefully this will not degrade the spare as it is brand new! looks like something may have come out of the compressor. However I can't get the 3 retaining bolts off to look inside. They just keep turning round. Any tips for getting them out chaps?

Have you noticed if the rear wiper washer is not working as well as it should?

Mine sprung a leak and was filling the top tailgate trim panel with brownish water, which would then drip down the interior of the rear window.

Luckily I caught mine just as it started but its not unfeasable to think the water could collect in the spare well if there was enough of it.

There are some Land Rover Technical Bulletins about this type of problem: Have a look at this thread which details all the LTB headers. If your car is under warranty you can use this as your weapon with the dealer, otherwise you can use it to prevent them hunting to things and wasting their time and your money!

Hi RR. Funnily enough my rear wash does not work, although the wiper does. Stealer said it needed a new pump.....probably! I think this may be leaking and causing the compressor to stop working/short out. thanks for the info.

Anyone got any advice on getting the compressor cover off? Don't want to use too much force in case I strip the threads of the screws.

I would suggest opening the rear tailgate and remove the top centre plastic trim. You just have to be brave and pull it straight out. If the inside is caked in the brown liquid marks you know that it's leaking.

I replaced mine and did a How To guide in the Maintenance section. Here's a link.

RRUK, you are a diamond! If I had a bit more money I would buy your TD6 (but am saving for a TDV8 ideally!)
Many thanks again. Very Happy

No problem, always like helping out.

The main problem to saving up for a TDV8 is that they are so much more money. You can add another £15k to price of mine for a cheap crap one.... Discovery 4 HSE
