If he has the cab at the end of his street he will still be running on the ADSL2/2+ from the exchange as you need to pay to move onto it.

I think he feels that after 10 years of rubbish broadband BT have had all the chances (and money) they are going to get!

The Tivo part makes up for the lack of speed and the GUI you get with a Sky+HD box I reckon. Their only saving grace FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

I must admit to being happy with my SKY Broadband, but nowhere near as fast as my sisters Vigin Media system...........though I'll need another degree to work out how the piggin Tivo box operates.......... 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Really ? I think the Tivo box is significantly better than the Sky HD. I have 3 of them and a regular v+ box and have been really happy with them. Prior to that I had 3 Sky HD's & a Sky+ - the HD boxes were just awful, forever crashing and in need of a re-boot. Things may have moved on, but the Tivo interface is great - and the fact that things like iPlayer & other ondemand services are integrated is just a bonus |

I had Tivo, the original when it was here in the UK on lifetime or monthly subs. It is an amazing if not fantastic system that has a loyal following and great dev community. However virgins par for course is cr4ppy box'es built to the lowest possible penny without any regard to quality or longevity. Its been this way for years and has been repeated time and time again with their other hardware offerings.

The (newer) VirginMedia Tivo boxes are Samsung also - seem to work fine. |

I imagine the Tivo is fine once you've figured out how to operate it, and iplayer and channel 5 catchup and stuff is integrated into the SKY HD box now, so they are getting there, just slightly slower........ 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Probably true - although I found the Tivo box was totally intuitive - just worked. Searching for programmes or just programme content is great as it searches the current schedule, plus Virgin Catchup, iPlayer, ITVPlayer, Channel4's version and Channel 5's and YouTube. |
