Jacks

We all know the scissor item supplied is not fit for purpose.
Can anyone suggests a bottle jack?
they seem small enough, and can easily stow in the boot and don't cost that much.
Halfords do a simple bottle jack:

but i am not sure if the lifting range is enough.
anyone know what the lifting range needs to be?

If you have a quik search on here there is a thread I contributed in which lists the one I got.

Yes it's overkill with its 20tonne limit but it lifts the ff in now time, is a 3tier lift and has a screw out section to help reduce pumping time. I can't fault it at all and at full stretch the wheel is about 1/2' if not more off the ground so easily does the job required and was £35 iirc so cheaper than a trolley jack, fits in the boot easily enough for use instead of the scissor jack. FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

The last one is the exact one i have. At full extension the wheel is miles off the ground! Trust me it IS overkill but has a fair old safety margin built in, pumps up quick and goes down quick.

Only downside is the pressure release part doesn't perfectly fit the handle slots. but its easy enough to turn it anyway at an angle Smile Just have to get my dad to reslot mine at some point! FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Here's a link to mine with another 3" of lift to go, probably more if I recall properly though I have only once ever had to fully extend it and that was on an off road jolly when it was sat lower than the wheel!! FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
