Front wheel tracking

Being a tight Fifer I thought I would phone around for a few quotes to get my front tracking done. I have 2 new Nexen Roadian 542's heading my way (gonna blame Stan if they are rubbish! Smile ) and have not had the tracking done since I fitted new lower control arms and track rods on both sides.
2 garages in Dundee were £29 and £40.
Stratstone Cupar £108.
I like Stratstone, but they continually price themselves out of work.
I have seen DIY tracking kits on the bay and I'm thinking of buying one, as my other car could do with getting checked as well.
Has anyone used a DIY device on a FFRR? Question Previously..

After 2 years my back wheels are showing even wear across the surface, so I am sure the rear is ok. It's just my front toe in/out I need to adjust. Surely you can just do the front if needed without doing all 4 together? Previously..

Spoken like a true Fifer, love it. Why not buy a couple of spirit levels, cable tie them on & you'll be braw! Adjust to suit, job done!,

There's an idea... My laser level, a couple of mirrors and a tape measure, sorted.
When I phoned Stratstone for a price I asked for just the front to be done. They never said that it had to be 4 wheel alignment done. Previously..

United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Atacama Sand

I got mine done by Protyre for £50. they were the only ones who had the right type of kit (cant remember what it was but it is needed for 4x4 vehicles and apparently you need to get all 4 done at the same time.)

Make sure your £29 boys have this or it wont work!

Hope this helps!

Problem with only adjusting the front is that if they make adjustments to only one side it can throw the steering sensor out which will throw up a fault and put half the electrics into safe mode.

You could be lucky and get someone who knows what he is doing and everything will be fine, but there again you may be unlucky.

I would recommend Pro-Grip at Larbert, John is excellent and knows what he is doing, he also managed to find a couple of problems with my FFRR, but may be a tad far for you to travel

+1 needs to be 4 wheel aligned to keep everything true, the old days of Dunlop alignment gauges are well and truly gone, might have been OK on a live axle but things move on Laughing Big Bro is watching....... Stolen / Gone: 2006MY Supercharged LPG Autobiography - Zambezi Silver with Sand/Jet/Jet Oxford Leather.....
