Just bringing this back to see how the modded cars are behaving? (Sea Aitch and Madcima). Have you noticed any difference in mpg?

Any updates greatly appreciated.

Hi Luke

I've just done a round trip of 350 miles of mostly motorway miles. At a constant 70 - 80 mph there doesn't seem to be any significant change in fuel consumption. This is not surprising, as there is very little acceleration involved, and the different characteristics of the torque converter don't come into play very much.
The modification seems to come into it's own when driving on "A" roads. Once I've accelerated to 35 mph, the transmission adopts a very positive and relaxed character, and as soon as I reach 50 mph there is a smooth change up, with the revs dropping to approx 1750. Driving between 50 and 70 mph no longer has the rev counter going up and down like a yo yo whenever I touch the accelerator.
It's difficult to put an actual figure on it, but I reckon that mpg on town driving and motorway driving is probably unaffected, and "A" road economy seems to get me between 1 & 2 mpg better. However, what really impresses me about this modification is the improvement to the "feel" of the car when driving. This in turn may have altered my driving style slightly, which could also have had an effect on the mpg that I'm getting.
Looking at possible numbers, I do about 8000 miles a year at (say) 25 mpg, which means I buy about 320 gallons of diesel. A 1.25 mpg improvement is a saving of 5% (of 320 gallons), which works out to 16 gallons. This converts to 73 litres @ £1.38 / litre which is approx £100. The modification has cost me about £120 (inc postage), so it should pay for itself in a little over a year.
However, we should remember that economy is not very high up the list of reasons to buy a Full Fat in the first place, so I tend to enjoy it for what it is.

make trips of 18 km speed constant 80/90 I have not seen a drop in consumption ... but the fluidity of insertion speed has improved greatly the elastic effect is gone!
I do not know whether it is too early to say consumption, assembly have traveled 500 km in case there are further developments will update everyone!

You are right about the consumption, although its allways nice to be able to go that little further on a tank.

Where's Eduard??

Guys - I was in the process of ordering a modified GM ecu from Eduard - and he seems to have disappeared from the forum!?! His posts (can't actually remember his username now! - edit Megawatt??) have all gone - and all the pm's that went back and forth between us have disappeared .....................sent AND received!?!?! what's happened there then?? His website is still live but I can't find a normal email address for him anywhere on it .........

Was really counting on that modified ecu too
