KP - Haflinger is definitely the way to go -
Fiat Puch 640cc 2 cylinder engine
Fr & Rr diff locks
2 / 4 wheel drive
Portal axles
Superb engineering - makes LR's look prehistoric
Weight - 500kg

Not cheap, though . . . check out ebay in Germany/Switzerland/Austria

Thumbs Up Where do you go after one of these . . . ?

Are they able to be road legal Tug?

Im guessing some are possibly tax exempt as well and classic insurance type jobbies? FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Mine isn't quite yet road legal ( Rolling with laughter ), but, yes, can be.

A few good sites to peruse . . . .

http://www.haflinger4wheeldriveclub.org/

http://www.haflingertechnik.com/html/index.php

http://tdc.haflinger-4wd.com/index.php

Haflinger Technik (in Scotland) deal in both Pinzgauers & Haflingers. Dale is the top man there. They bought a shed load of spares years ago from the Swiss military.

I'm not sure I should be encouraging this . . . . . Whistle

Thumbs Up Where do you go after one of these . . . ?

Think I'll drop them a line then Smile

Do the Haflingers come with a diesel box at all or is it all petrol 600cc units?

They remind me of the aircooled VW lumps from what I can see in pictures and videos Smile

Wonder what snorkel options are about Wink

TBH they look the better option as I just want something for playing with and if it can greenlane as well all the better for it. I know I wont get heated seats (well until I put them in!) but its more about the fun factor that im after now I don't have some dragon telling me what to do and i can enjoy myself and possibly with the nipper in the future as well as I'm sure he'd love it if he's anything like his old man so a roll cage and 5 point belts will be installed too Smile Which may actually mean a trip to Uncle Ray @ RLD for some metalwork bits!

Cheers for the info Tug. I looked at that members site before but you have to reg before you can even read it Sad FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Try to buy a CH Armee Serie 2 Bantam Haflinger, they are the best of the bunch.
Those should be plentiful about and were (almost) all road legal as well.
Registration in the UK should be the same as any other imported car.
Plenty of vidoes on youtube of peole having fun with the Serie 2 Bantam

Guten morgen mein freund

Danke Smile

Or something like that i think!!

How is german ebay for vehicles compared to the UK? Is it buyer beware or are the usually pretty well as advertised? Same for Swiss/Austrian ones if anyone knows?

PS Tug i sent Dale an email. think it might take him a while to read it all mind but thought i best cover my bases and explain where i am upto Smile

Has anyone fitted a snorkel or diesel unit to one do you know? FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
