Jaguar XK-R Sat NAV issues?

Hi Guys I hope one of you electronic genius's can help me.

I just picked up a very nice 2007(57) Jaguar XK-R (like new) with standard factory Jaguar Sat Nav.

Problem is the cursor has no idea where it is and does not appears to be receiving the GPS signal.

Everything else works perfectly on the unit.

Any ideas?

Gaz

Simple check - is the compass pointing north (or as near north as you know it to be) and keep pointing there when the car does?

If it is, it suggests the signal is being received and the unit is at least partially working (receives signal, processes it, changes screen accordingly), if it isn't or doesn't move then it doesn't actually prove much, since it could be either a signal issue or a unit issue. 2012 FFRR Westminster Orkney / Ivory and absolutely no pimp-glass!

You can orient the Map true North or Direction but direction is obviously not the same direction as the car is going!

Antenna or wiring between antenna and nav module at fault.

There should be a settings mode on it to allow you to see the satellite signal strength I would have thought. Previously..

Will have another fiddle tomorrow - very frustrating had a few Jags with this Nav and never seen this....

Interestingly there is a setting to allow you to re-set the cursor position to anywhere you choose (calibration) which I though odd as the GPS should do that surely?

Not being a SAT NAV expert Mick how do you get into that on a FF?

OK I think I have fixed it by re-cailbrating the system by moving the map until the cursor was sitting in exactly the current location and oriented in the exact right direction. I saved the setting and drove half way round the block and it worked but I thought this may be dead reckonning so I set my home as destination and it all worked tickertee boo.

This is the beast in question quite a stunning car:

Traded my XK for the Westie. Must say I do think that the Jag touch screen / sat nav /menu / facilities / controls leaves the RR version in the shade.

Silly question - the sat nav drive in the boot is working? 2012 FFRR Westminster Orkney / Ivory and absolutely no pimp-glass!
