2007 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Java Black
De-blinging

Hi
I bought my blck RR TDV8 used - and it came complete with many chrome adornments....the most horrible of which are the wing mirror covers and the bonnet grill. I am presuming that RR dont make such gaudy accessories, and that they are both simply covers....had a little go first thing this morning at removing the mirrors but they seem pretty well affixed.....are there any tips or tricks for removal without messing up what's underneath....or has anyone come accross chrome bits that are not covers but actual replacement parts - all before I attack them with a screwdriver tomorrow!!???

I put them on mine along with all sorts of other chrome accessories, wing mirror covers , door handles , scuff plates, 12 piece A,B,C,D Pillars etc.etc.

Then got bored with it all and took it all off......

Easiet way i took the wing mirror covers off was with an 00.6mm Guitar string and started by putting it under the lip of the cover and using a sawing motion worked my way between the mirror cover and housing.

And any residue from the covers on the back of the housing i cleaned with white spirit

Mine seem to be in two halves.....so getting a wire behind them shoudln;t be too hard (I hope) - my worry is that they are replacement(but not genuine) for the balck plastic covers that should be there on my 2007 TDV8....

Like these

if they stick out from the housing of the mirrors by about 2mm i think they are just covers

All of these things are held on with sticky stuff of some kind so warming it up will make your life easier.

The front grille is a very easy fix but not that cheap. If it has a SC grille then you'll want a standard SC grille to replace. Look on fleabay for a new one and its 3 screws to hold it in. Discovery 4 HSE

those look just like my mirrors - so will try hairdryer and wire gentlly.....actaully, the front grille is a nice Supercharger one (which is not bling at all) - its also got a chrome cover on the grill bit where the bonnet meets the windscreen.....that's got to go - and I'm hoping that it too is just a cover.....

will do - might even go with some before and after shots if i can get the camera working....i bought some 19" Vogue wheels on ebay - hopefully they;ll be cool - the 22" Overfinch thing doesnt do it for (they;re for sale) it's purely personal...but I like a stock look...

ive just bought a 56 plate tdv8 and will be leaving my stock vogue 19" wheels as they are , I would reccomend the Supercharged grille and vents !! , Ive had the windoes tinted and added some side barsx but thats it as far as chrome goes , i cant put up with all the stick on chrome , Its a Range Rover not a VAuxhall Frontera !!

well my plan failed at the first hurdle - eventually prised the chrome morror cover off and saw a Land Rover sticker on them - and I knew immediately that they were the official LR Chrome mirror covers and below then is nothing! So I glued them back on after a quick call to LR who wanted £150ish per mirror to asupply unpainted covers - then a quick paint job - reckon Im looking at £400 - so I'll have to live with them.

Never got the time to look at the bonnet grille(By the windscreen) - It looks awfully unlike a cover - and so I'll need a replacement part....not sure I'm reasy for the expense yet.....so if anyone does liek this look, feel free to get in contact - would be happy to swap!!

they're in two parts - chome upper and chrome bottom.....LR told me they do a painted version but its more cost effective to get them painted yourself...I'd be happy with just the stock plastic cover - dont want ro need anything more elaborate....
