By chance I found my car hasn't, for the past 11 months, been registered as insured on the above even though I have the thing fully insured.
Not been stopped yet but give it time.

Speak to your insurance company in the morning and get them to sort it. The most usual cause is for the VRM to have been entered incorrectly, sometimes it's due to people buying a personal plate and forgetting to tell their insurer. The difficulty starts when you ping an ANPR equipped Police car which will alert as no insurance and as the MID data is passed to the PNC then you will show as no insurance on the PNC as well. If this happens out of office hours when the Police are unable to contact your insurers then you could end up with your car being seized. Although obviously you would get your costs refunded when your insurer confirmed it was insured after all, you don't want the hassle and grief of having your car taken off you, being left stranded where ever you happen to be at the time and the inconvenience and expense of getting your car back.

All the documentation is correct, been on to the insurers and they confirm I have insurance as documented.
They will put my details thro to MID again as "something has gone wrong".
The funny thing is my insurance is nearly 11 months old now.
I always carry a copy of my insurance certificate with me.
I don't see why plod would have the justification to sieze my car as it's legally insured even when my insurers can't be contacted.
I have a valid certificate to prove it.
The fact that MID and my insurers can't get their act together is non of my concern.
If my car was siezed it would result in a formal complaint by me against the officers concerned.

the police will seize the car if 'their' database says its not insured and thers nothing you can do about it even if you have a certificate which isnt absolute proof as the insurer could have issued it and you could have defaulted on the monthly payments .. ... - .- -.

They can use their discretion, a little difference between a barry'd up saxo and a FFRR, most police really do not know the law themselves I had a massive argument about mine and ended up telling them to call a traffic car, he was saying as it wasnt showing that no-one could drive it, I explained my policy is a fully comp trade one and I could drive any car wether it was insured or not, he could not get his head round the fact he was thinking of the normal fully comp drive any car that doesnt belong to you type (even though he is still wrong and it becomes insured when you are using it) One day your life will flash before your eyes......................................make sure yours is worth watching!

As I carry around copies of my V5, insurance certificate, mot certificate and driving licence I don't think they would have justification to sieze my car given I have fully complied with the law.
They would of course have to wait until I'd spoken to their Duty Inspector.

If you were pulled because your FFRR showed up on the police ANPR the cops would phone your insurance company to make sure it was covered, so no need to panic

A LOT of unscrupulous people keep their certificate and cancel their monthly payments, a constable only needs 'reasonable' grounds to use s165a road traffic act, out of hours it is very much a judgement call as to whether the vehicle is seized.
