When I had the battery replaced on my last one, they said they didn't need to raise the bonnet back to get it out, have you tried? THE INVENTOR OF THE TERM "FULL-FAT RANGE ROVER" :

Changing the battery is much easier with the hood all the way up, tho, and while the instructions on the rr.net page cited above work, it's much easier to take a small screwdriver and push it into the slot on the back of the ball socket and pry the spring clip that holds the ball out till it catches on the edges of the slits it rides in (not so easy to describe - look, it's self-explanatory). Do the same on the other side and you can casually walk back and forth while holding the hood and releasing the balls from their sockets, lifting the hood, and sliding the clips to hold the hood vertically into place. Takes about 42 secs to do the first time and around 27 secs henceafter. And just looking at the battery takes about 32 secs lees with the hood all the way up... Razz RRC 2Dr, RRC 4Dr,

I refitted the battery with the bonnet in the service position and it certainly made life a lot easier!
Sadly, now I have a new problem! Crying or Very sad
