I wonder, are the current nav systems offered in lr products dvd based or hd based?

If they are hd based then i presume that any updates will be via dealers not dvd.....

Hence the lack of supply?

If you buy a map disc from one of the dodgy websites, just make sure you put the map disc in your computer, and read the date of the files.
If its 2011, then it's a 2012 and if it he dates 2012, then it's the latest.

However, for the mk4, there is only 1 guy that properly mods the discs for latest speed cameras. He is not any of the owners of the pirate sites.

No we are still on 11/12 discs, doesn't seem that an update from LR will be available. One of the other members was attempting to get NaVteq to do a limited licensed run of discs, not sure how he is getting on, was a few weeks back. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I was talking to my dealer about updating the satnav, they said I had to go to the navteq site and order through there. I went to the navteq site but it said I had to get in touch with the dealer anyway I will do and see what they say, it did give me a cat number. The dealer seemed to think that I'd get a USB stick with the update on but wasn't that sure. But said that people that had updated their cars didn't seem to see much difference. As anyone updated their satnav? How? Is it worth doing, and cost? TA.

Lad the situation is as you have guessed complicated for DVD based systems new discs are possible but Land Rover are being complete git's over it , the new L405 can be updated with an SD card or USB stick I believe but the real bummer is the TFT screened L322, they need updating via Land Rover diagnostic hook up and it would seam they have no intention of paying for new software .
We have just got new map here after A LOT of bitching for years and I won't expect any more for along time if ever . It's a deplorable problem but JLR don't see it as a valid customer relations exercise . 2008 MY Supercharged

there are also pirated 2015 discs for sale which have the "version 2014" in the info.txt.
if you look at the land rover 2011-2012 they are version 2011.

i have a 2015 that works very nice, as far as i can tell.

I am still waiting for Landrover to supply an Update via Navteq/here for the navigation system for my range rover
the most up to date map available from an official source remains the 2011 map.
There are at least 2 sellers on the web providing discs with 2014 maps on them which are claimed to work in the Denso MM1 system fitted to the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport and D3 2005-2009.
I have spent a couple of days on the phone trying to work out where these came from, and can only conclude that they are copies of dvd discs from another manufacturer such as Saab which also used the Denso MM1 system.
It is somewhat ironic that Saab have commissioned Navteq to produce an update for the navigation system for their cars considering they went out of business a few years ago whereas Landrover have not.
If Landrover won't order any updated maps then feedback on whether these other maps disc work reliably would be helpful. The forum could then consider whether to change its rules forbidding links to sites selling them.

the forum will not change the rules regarding any pirated sat nav disc.

and yes the hybrid disc does work, and can i ask that there no more mention of these 2014 discs please... ... - .- -.
