United Kingdom 2002 Range Rover Td6 Vogue Auto Zermatt Silver
Pics with number plates on display

Guys, be aware that the current trend to avoid paying the Congestion charge is to have some plates made up from a similar vehicle. Its happening a lot now and we are getting a fair few calls at work from people who have received penalty charges through the post from Transport For London, when they've never been to the Capital.

There was an article on TV about it last week as well- the crooks are scouring Auto Trader & the internet for pics of cars for sale with number plates on display. Then, its just a case of having some plates made up and away they go, setting of GATSO, parking illegally etc etc. When the photo comes through the post, you'd struggle to say that the car in the image wasn't yours.

I'm just mindful that some pics here have the plates on display also. There are one or two silver ones on here too, just like mine and if I was that way inclined, it wouldn't take much to make my car look like the others, then run amok through London! (I'm going there in March too!)

My tip to people that come to see me is to have something distinctive but discreet on the vehicle that would identify it as yours (E.G: Dealer name on plate or similar). 02 Vogue

United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover TDV8 Vogue SE Auto Stornoway Grey

Absolutely Brilliant advice and something I have personally always tried to adhere to for my car.

There are 2 sides to this coin:

1. Making something uniquely different on your car helps you to identify your car as opposed to a ringer trying to clone yours, so you don't cop the blame.

2. That also means that when you ARE done for speeding etc, you can't really deny it! Big Cry

Guys, please try and edit your photos for your own sakes and don't display your number plates, anyone can send off for a set of plates on the web, no ID or docs required. THE INVENTOR OF THE TERM "FULL-FAT RANGE ROVER" :
