United Kingdom

Eugene,

I’ve had a quotation back from JPAT now. Prices are as follows :

Intermediate Sheet = £34.60

4-off Jump Tubes = £6.92

Oil Pump Bridge Seal = £3.61

Next day delivery within the UK = £12.90 (fixed price for all JPAT deliveries)

I enquired about the MV1 damper (a.k.a. delay accumulator valve) and JPAT supplied the cost for the Sonnax Zip Kit for the 6HP26 (see flyer below) which is £93.82. However, the solenoid accumulators in the kit are the six small ones for the yellow and blue cap solenoids. These dampers are there only to prevent oscillation in these proportional pressure control solenoids whereas the much larger one for the MV1 on-off solenoid (with the black cap) is there to control the rate of pressure rise for the E-clutch.

I went back to them and asked again if the individual spools/pistons and springs were available for the valve block and JPAT say that ZF do not supply these, only complete valve blocks.

Obviously the offer is still there if you need my second-hand parts.

Regards,

Phil

Hi Phil,

This seems the best option to me to be honest, get the parts from the UK via your supplier and use your second hand parts. Can you PM me your email address so we can arrange things like payment etc.

I really appreciate your help on this.

Kind regards,

I would like to get these items quickly (i.e. DHL) and not wait for the air freight (which would take 3 to 4 weeks). MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

If it is in before Friday and they have time to pack it into a crate, it goes. Then it takes 2 to 3 weeks on this side to get to me. Unless there is a strike and then it can take a while longer. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

UPDATE :
Monday afternoon my "care-package" from Phil arrived. Everything he promised was there so of course I jumped to it and got everything ready.

Tonight (Tuesday 21 May), I drained the ATF, removed the oilpan/filter unit and removed the Mechatronic. All using Phils ZF teardown post. It worked perfectly, the connector sleeve does not show the corrosion issue but since I have the new one anyway, it will go in soon.

Of course it was a bit of an oil bath but that can be cleaned up (our parking garage has painted concrete floors so should be fine, not like it is the first time it sees some ATF Smile ).

Tomorrow the plan is to split the Mechatronic and replace the parts, while I will give it a good once over and clean out any crap.

A bit of a concern is the magnets (this filter unit has been in for some 20,000 kms at the most). There is some extremely fine blackish dust on it with some courser feeling debris in it. Grain of sand size. I hope that is not the impending doom that the transcooler issue could have caused.

Anyway, I will re-install the Mechatronic to see if that resolves my 3-4 shift problem before worrying about anything else. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

UPDATE :

Opened up the mechatronic and that seemed to go well. Did have a little scare though, when I noticed these little black plastic balls sitting on the intermediate plate. In hindsight I disassembled it in the wrong orientation. Anway, pretty sure they are all back where they belong.

As predicted by Phil, the seals of the intermediate plate came of at some areas, so very glad I had the new one.

I replaced all the parts that we discussed but unfortunately none of them seem defective (although I can't say anything about the SV1 coil). So I'm hoping it is the SV1 that was acting up.

I did find more of the black debris and cleaned it out as much as possible (quite hard working in a bathroom/shower due to lack of a proper workshop). So here is hoping that this will resolve the problem although not hugely hopeful.

Took quite a while to do all the work (longer than expected), about 4 hrs. (finished after midnight).

Today I'm going to try and put it all back, fill up the gearbox and go for a short test drive.

Will keep you all posted Smile MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

Ooops, sorry, I should have warned you about the nine 6mm check valves Embarassed

Disappointing that you didn’t find anything obviously wrong. So the damper piston slid up and down its bore okay? Like you say, it’s just possible that the black-cap solenoid will make a difference. Otherwise, back to square one….

Latest update. The fluid level in the box is probably still a bit on the low side but the first drive revealed that the problem hasn't left the box.
