Transit Mode - What it actually does

Now this info is incomplete, and may be completely wrong as the info is taken from the Rover 75 (uses similar system found in all BMW’s (inc our RR)) But I just though Transit Mode lock the suspension or something, it seems to do a lot more:

I believe that's what that ghost switch (that no one knows what's for) over the pedals does.

Talking of a ghost switch... I have a mysterious switch in the driver side foot well, see pic.

Anyone know what this is for? What it does? I don't notice anything when I toggle it.

It's not mentioned in the manual, as far as I can see. Any ideas, anyone?

Never noticed it myself - does it mean I'm crap at cleaning my car? Embarassed Laughing

The switch is to energise the ignition before the vehicle has it's PDI (pre delivery inspection). IIRC it's from 07my, and you need to press it to alloy you to start the vehicle to move it before it has had it's checks (onto the transported, off into the dealers compound etc).

James Thumbs Up

Thanks for that James, so I guess that it is totally redundant now , to the end user?

Mine is still functional (there is a cable behind the battery that is disconnected before dealers sell to customers if I remember rightly). COuld be useful for disabling your car if away on holiday I suppose. Steve

And yes, the OBD port moved from the very handy coin tray/wallet hidey hole that I no longer have Censored to somewhere near the pedals. Discovery 4 HSE
