I'm getting my bonnet resprayed in a few days and I was wondering about lettering options. I think I will probably go for the Titanium letters - should look nice against the red - but I notice that at least one supplier provides a "banana" shaped template "to match the original OEM curve" of the lettering. Is this a gimmick? or is it true? anyone any experience?

I colour coded my bonnet lettering - I've got a black car and put black letters on it.

Geoff you should make your own template in advance with masking tape taking into account height from lip of boot and bonnet. I removed mine for respray and whilst close they are positioned too high Present :2008 TDV8 HSE

Thanks guys, just so we aren't at cross purposes I will get curved backed letters for the front and flat ones for the rear (IF I ever get round to it) but do they sit on a curve or a straight line.

Geoff, Make a template by buying some masking tape, sticking it all over the front edge of your bonnet (6" or so high) leaving holes where your letters now sit... Write on some reference points... ie, measure the gap from badge to lower edge of bonnet, mark where the grill insert starts etc etc then peel the whole thing of in one and stick it sticky side up on top of the wifes kitchen cupboards or somewhere it wont stick to... When the car is returned, line up your reference marks, stick the thing back on the front of your car and fit your new badge back in the holes you left whilst taping round your old badge... Simples |

So the letters arrived today, not curved at the back so may be just about OK for the rear but not the bonnet - doh! and the template I made is better, much better, than the one they provided.
