Dave's trying to convince himself that having 6 keys is a must...

Think of all those "safe"places you can hide them all incase you loose a set. Shocked Ash

i got a bit carried away with my self, the stealers wanted 250+ after programming and i was ot going to pay that. so the thought of only having one key and if it got lost is not something i wanted to think about.
the worst did happen to my mate while out,he lost his key to his merc and with no key cover his bill was just short of £500 after the recovery plus new key. V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

So what do we need to do this daveo ? Is it cheaper than buying a key from the stealer ? What if I only have one key? .

you need a unit called EWS Editor, new chip, and a key blank, the hardest part is removing the EWS unit from the car(center consle out) as you need to read this with the new tool, this is the bit where you can do the damage, you need to touch a pin on the board to read, after you get the info from the unit you can start writing a new key, once done then its back to the EWS and you have to write back to it and tell it that a new key is on the system.
i started with a few second hand EWS of ebay to mess around with, i killed the first one within seconds by touching the wrong pin, easy done...the second one was better and i got info out of it but then had trouble with doggy fake chips, can you imagin it, fake Censored transponder chips. like most of this stuff its from china so the after sales support is not up to much, they do try but broken english makes it hard, V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

Like many owners I suspect I'd like to freshen up one of my keys which has a pierced case through wear and tear but this doesn't seem like a job for the faint hearted.

It has arrow to open, large button to close and boot release with red light in the corner. Probably original I would say dave.

hi daveo i like the sound of this little project Smile i am in the same position with only having 1 key at the moment after my second one died after trying to transfer it to the new shape key. What sort of costs are involved?
