I think bush reference was "Wire Brush" to clean before spraying Smile

I brushed the Hammerite as it was all I had to hand. Spraying looks like it would have been better. Geoff

How did you get underneath the car to do a good job?

Did you mask areas off to stop overspray??

I masked off the label on the armature, and the bolt heads. Then just used a piece of cardboard as I went around to shield the over spray potential.

Jacked it up to off road height, nothing more, took no more than 30 mins. Thumbs Up Discovery 4 HSE

Thanks.. forgive my ignorance but when you say 'jacked it up' do you just mean pushing the button to raise the suspension???

That's it! I'm off to Halfords for a tin of spray too! I suddenly am really conscious of my faded / silver showing exhaust box!

I may have to stop reading items on this forum given the amount of jobs it's making me feel I should be doing! Laughing Laughing Laughing RR Vogue TDV8 08

BTW, if you want to get the drop plate hitch part off, and if it's all rusted in place...I got mine off with the aid of a bottle jack between the back of the drop plate and the main towbar armature. Thumbs Up

Silk, Satin or up in flames!
Get Halfords Black Silk in Can and spray two or three coats. The results are cheap but look great. The box does not get really hot.
Doh.. Just got home with a £7.49, 500 ml can of 'Halfords Satin Black Spray Paint' (comes in a silver grey can)...

A. Having re-read post as 'black silk', am presuming have bought the wrong stuff; &

B. Guys in Halfords were giving me the serious voice whilst saying "Wouldn't put that on a back box or exhaust mate, it's not heat resistant!"
