Refurb Complete - 4 x 'Anodized' Tread Plates

Very impressed with Badger Anodising, Birmingham:

Posted my 4 tread plates off to them last Saturday, they received them Monday morning and they were couriered to my door this morning.

The original LR aluminium plates have been chemically stripped to remove the anodising, then machine polished (linished) and then anodised again.

The finish is superb, better than I had hoped for and they look like brand new plates (but have cost approx 20% of the price of a set of new plates).

It's not often a service received lives up to expectations but Peter at Badger says he is 'passionate' about what he does. From first speaking with him by phone last Friday until receiving the plates back so quickly today, I can't remember receiving such a pleasant, straightforward, trustworthy and brilliantly polished service Wink Thumbs Up

Hopefully, after umpteen attempts at uploading, the two attached images will show the front nearside tread plate before the refurb (it doesn't look that bad on the image but it was quite a mess/ 'well scratched')... and all 4 plates after the refurb.

Have done what research I can and so today posted all 4 tread plates off to an anodising firm in the Midlands who will strip all, repolish and anodise (bright/ original finish match).

Firm was recommended by a forum member who used them some months ago. On speaking with firm today they appear to know their stuff and instill confidence they will do a good job.

The plates were simple to carefully remove in minutes with a decorators scraper/the blade covered with a micrfibre cloth to protect surrounding plastics.

Should get them back in a week or so.

Always remember that an anodised finish highlights blemishes, dependinging on the material you are treating you may find that you get a finish that looks like galvanic corrosion (commonly known as black or white spot)

What's 3M Tape

Might actually have a car to put these tread plates onto now that it is back from dealer.

What is 3M tape?

I've today bought from Halfords, Signam 'Number Plate Fixers 1mm Adhesive pads'. The alternate was 6mm number plate pads (too thick)? or Halfords own 4mm tape...

Are the 1mm pads I've bought up to the job of refixing the original metal S/C badges back on to the treads please/ thanks?
