Ouch - service costs

Just booked mine in at Hunters LR Norwich, for its first service since i bought her from Saxton 4x4, the car has full LR service history except for the one carried out by saxton when i bought it.

£620, for oil, pollen filter and air con cleanse - bloody hell. Oh the nice lady did say the courtesy car is complementary Thumbs Up Dave

Why? You've got a choice stealers aren't set in stone and I would never ever use one plenty of excellent independent garages,I supplied my oil, filters and bits for around £120 and was charged £60 to do it and book stamped by 4x4 specialist. _____________________________________________________

Did you do a local ring around to get the best price first?

negotiation, get hold of the service team on the desk, not the call centre, Hunters have a centralised call centre. Phone round, then phone the dealership direct, and see if they can do you a deal. More often than not they will knock a bit off.

The problem with the 4.4 is the availability of reasonably priced oil. Because it is a rare ford spec finding it off the shelf is tricky. Shell Helix AF-L is the correct oil and is available from ECP.

See how much they will knock off if you Bring your own oil and filter, you may be supprised. They charge a fortune for the castrol stuff they use, then again 2 tubs of Helix won't be cheap is on at 69.99 for 5l at the moment which seems a tad steep.

opie will do 2 x 5l fora pinch under £80. so that seems more reasonable. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I'm offshore at the moments, so i asked the wife to book it in, she then hit me with the cost.

I'll ring around when i get home, just liked the idea for it being LR stamp in the book, but i guess as long as the oils and filter are correct, it's fine, just need to find someone trustworthy, and that'll use the oil i supply and not some cheap crap, i now im a cynical old git Very Happy Dave
