End of week one for my new s/c

Ok, so far so good, however I've come across some "issues" that I can't find much refererence to, so I would appreciate some advice :-

1. According to the manual when I turn the key to position 1 it's supposed to display the service information, but when I do this, all I get is the info on the A/V system ie what station I'm tuned into, so I have no idea hiw long I have until my next service. I know it's related to how I drive, but I'd still like to know!

2. Even after upgrading to the lastest maps DVD I still can't get TMC to work, despite being able to tune into Classic FM with no problem. When I do the search for TMC stations, the signal strength never goes about the first and even that seems to be a struggle! Is there a separate antenna for the TMC unit?

3. My TPMS warns me to check ALL tyres for the first few miles of any journey, and seems to get upset after the car's been washed (mostly by jet washing).

Fuel consumption seems to be settling down to around 18, which I suppose isn't too bad! Laughing

All advice gratefully received!

1.dont know

2.you should have a little white box about the size of a matchbox located in the near side rear panel towards the back of the opening..it has tmc written on it .. check the connections..

3.jet/pressure washing the wheels means that somehow water is getting into the sensors under the arches causing the problem you have. ... - .- -.

Cheers Scarey,

Number 1 is a puzzle.

I've located the TMC unit and done a "quick" check of the connections, but I'll delve a bit deeper

Number 3 is a puzzle, since it warns about ALL the tyre pressures? I was of the impression each wheel had its own sensor which fed to a central ECU. Can this mean that water's geting into all 4 sensors? As an engineer I'm struggling to accept that could be the cause, hence my suspicion that it's something common to all 4 sensors?

cheers

re number 3, maybe water ingress into one sensor affects the the other three or confuses the ecu into thinking there is a fault in all...

re number 2, have you travelled to a different area to see if the tmc can be picked up there... ... - .- -.

Sounds plausible! I guess I'll need to go around each wheel in turn and see which (f any) triggers the warning.....
Might save me a few shillings of main dealer investigation time! Thumbs Up

1 other thing I forgot to mention was the bluetooth connection.
I can connect both my phones Nokia 6230 and i-Phone 4) but neither of them transfer the contacts to the car, so I'm using them blind.
I found a reference to a technical bulletin which refers to this issue and suggests a s/w upgrade should resolve this, so i went into the local RR service dept only to be told that this probably wouldn't work on my car and the most likely solution was to buy an new BT module!!! Yeah right I thought!

Are they telling me porkies and has anyone had this done to solve this problem? Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

Hi, re: the TPMS; in that case could it be related to the controller/receiver module?
Several people here have have PDC issues which are analogous to the TPMS i.e. Multiple sensors 1 controller and on mine 1 sensor caused the loss of functionality of all (until the water dries out) I agree that 1 failure at the end of a component chain leading to systematic fault is too coincidental (unless of course there are failsafes in the controller!) so I'd look higher up the chain in the wiring or interface module.

For the phone LTB00095 allegedly solves it but several horror stories of 3 goes for the upgrade still not working you'd probably be better contacting Wiggs on here who will sell you an updated module which is a 5 minute plug an play swap. I now have phone book over Bluetooth on iPhone or BB Bold 9780.

The Servis indicator on the LCD on your dash only counts down the last 1000 miles to Servis so you find your self just being paranoid until it starts and then hacked off at anticipating the cost of a Servis, it's all part of the RR experience .
I have had mine for nearly four years now and my service indicator has never gon off because I Servis it at every twelve months and this has never been enough to trigger it. 2008 MY Supercharged

Mine showed no indication of the next service until it was 1000 miles away and then said "Inspection service 03.2011" - but now that I have had the service, it shows "Inspection service 03.2012" on key position 1 every time...

Sorry.maybe I misled you, what I meant was that when I turn the key to position 1 the display under the speedo shows what radio station I'm tuned to, not the service info.

The fact that it doesn't appear until it's nearly due and makes me feel a bit more resassured, but like others say, 1,000 miles doesn't give a lot of warning! Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

I was having a senior moment anyway - it was my old car that did that - the pre '05 model with the BMW electronics used to show the mileage to next service for about 10 seconds when you turned it on. The newer car doesn't do this
