Harmon Kardon Logic 7 Audio Amplifier Failure

No Audio Sound at all but sound via RSE Headsets (Own AMP) so suspect AMPLIFIER Failure

Can somebody advise where the 2006+ (Vogue SE Supercharged) MOST Harmon Kardon Logic 7 Audio Amplifier is located? [Sorted see below]

There are two other units behind the front two:

I can now confirm its behind the TMC Module. You will need to remove the TMC Unit & Bracket it sits on then the Tuner Unit and the Bracket it Sits on then the Top Bracket which hangs on two bolts but you can leave the Bluetooth Module/DVD etc attached and just move whole bracket out of the way.

You then unbolt the bracket the Amplifier is bolted to so you can get behind and unbolt the AMP and replace. Then replace everything in reverse order.

NEW AMPLIFIER SERIAL NUMBER FOR ALL TOUCH SCREEN CARS: XQK500105

Harmon Kardon Logic 7 Audio Amplifier Failure

I decided to try and fit a used Harmon Kardon Logic7 Amp picked up off eBay myself and just spent two hours stripping out the rear compartment of all the units and brackets in front of the Amplifier (Loads on a Vogue SE!).

After taking off the TMC unit I could see considerable water corrosion on the back of it and immediately suspected water ingress damage to the AMP as it sits in the water ingress problem area. On finally reaching the AMP it has white corrosion on the top. I replaced it with the new/used part and then replaced everything I had removed in the reverse order and guess what?

All now working perfectly!

Yes, they are about £40+ from Dan.
The chances are the seal is not seating properly at the top left corner.
If you do replace the seal be very careful bending the seal to go round the top two corners, it's easily distorted.
Crap seal design imo.

As above it is a crap design.

But i would not replace it straight away. I have investigated this problem quite alot. I have found that the metal clips inside the seal that keep the seal on the body can corrode and become weakened and allow water to enter between the seal and the body (not tailgate). This makes it very hard to detect where the leak is actually coming from.

Check the condition of the seal, if its not torn on the sealing face (to the tailgate), then a good and cheap solution is to clean the white cack that has probably hardened by now and is exacerbating the problem out. Then apply a thin even bead of tigerseal / sikaflex or the like to the side that fits onto the body.

This has aa good adhesive effect to overcome the crap internal metal clips and also seals better than the white cack. It is also cheaper and quicker.

Also fit the water shedder pronto, does not fix the problem but helps save the electronics from a rapid demise! its costs about £10 iirc.

Hi Gazellio

Sorry for not replying sooner to your PM been working away this week and not had much chance to logon, glad you got it sorted its usually a faulty AMP when you get power but no sound I would have just said replace the AMP. The water ingress is a very common fault in that compartment. Couldn't have be a worse place to have a leak.

Matt

I got a load of large bags of silica gel off ebay for next to nothing and strategicall placed in the voids in that compartment, that way if I do get a leak it will be easy to see before the damage is done.
