Your insurance premium

This year, after nearly 16 years motoring my insurance premium has actually come DOWN to a level which I feel it pretty cheap. I used www.gocompare.com and got a deal with Bell, fully comp and loaded policy:

here's my stats

TD6 Vogue Auto
33 yrs old
6 points (SP)
rural postcode
garaged car
value £25k max
RAC Trackstar fitted

£325

What is everyone else paying in comparison? Discovery 4 HSE

1982 Series 3 Hard Top

It really annoys me whenever I came across threads like this, everyone seems to be paying half as much as I, despite me being 44year old, probably have at least 20yr + no claim, class1 and full Bike license!!!
My ins for Rangie is £700 Rolling Eyes

I second the recommendation for gocompare. For my current car, I shaved over a third off my previous quote by getting Directline to match the cheapest quote (which just so happened to be Privilege, their subsidary). Gocompare.com offered the best prices and best range of the three main comparison sites. Paul

£393 for me. My renewal from the AA lept up to £950. They wouldn't budge, even though I'd got a quote for £290 fully comp (albeit, not having everything I wanted on the policy).

One of the companies on confused.com wanted £1600! Shocked They might as well just say "We don't want your businsess unless you're a mug!"

It definatley pays to shop around, but a something to note - I noticed that the questions on the comparision websites aren't always specific enough. I double checked my details before paying and by correcting one item with more speciifc detail, it took another £40 off the price.

Mine is £544 with NFU for my 2007 TDV8.
Agree it's often difficult to make comparisons on online sites if you want somerthing slightly different. Another frustation I found with previous insurers is they are competitive for one year then make a big increase at your first renewal even though you haven't claimed.
I tracked down NFU from the Disco3.co.uk threads and found them to be most helpful over the phone. They weren't the cheapest but give off road cover which surprisingly many insurers exclude for 4X4's!
I also have business use for both myself and my wife for our separate businesses which adds a bit to the normal premium. Don't mistake my snoring for a lack of interest?

word of warning re cheap insurance, especially with a RR and your intended use of the vehicle, make sure they cover for towing, off-road use, business use, and if they charge for a loan vehicle when your car is in the garage.

Cheap is OK if you just use it as a car and for personal use - a lot of us don't, and I would hate anyone to experience a total uninsured loss.

Slightly different example - Once saw a FFRR on the back of a trailer being towed by a Hilux on the M5. It started to snake, rolled over and down the embankment. Was the driver insured to tow, was the vehicle insured to tow, was the vehicle on the trailer insured, was the trailer insured... I know of people who have been caught out...

That idiot was also undoubtedly over the towing weight limit of the Hilux = no insurance whatever cover he may have had Shocked

Great, glad to hear it still works! Sometimes bargains are there for a short time and are gone.

Can't wait for my 6 points to drop off my licence finally this month after 5 years. Thumbs Up Discovery 4 HSE
