Best 20' Winter and Summer Tyre

I have Continental Crosscontact on my car but all four wheels have uneven treadwear, they wear off a lot on the edges (I have read this is a common problem with Contis and I had the same problem with my two previous Range Rovers wearing Contis).
I do check my tyre pressures very often and tracking seems to be ok as well.
So I'll try to use them till after the summer and will then buy a set of proper winter tyres keeping the original 20 inch wheels and later a set of 20 inch summer tyres but definitely no Contis.
Any recommendations? I'd like to stay with Land Rover approved tyres so I believe there's Pirelli and Michelin both as winter and summer tyre. Any have experience of these tyres in 20's?
Many recommendations on this forum but not so many specifically on 20 inch tyres.

'Best' is very subjective and you're likely to get different opinions...... And in reality, very few people who have ever run many different brands who are able to properly judge. Except maybe Gaz as he has such a high turnover of vehicles, but then again, is unlikely to drive them hard enough to do a proper test.

You're correct that pretty much everyone suffers outside edge wear on the Contis.

I run Michelin Diamaris in the summer and Vredestein Wintracs in the winter and been very happy with both - both in 20"

Thanks, I read very good reports on Vreds Wintrac Extreme on this and other forums so will probably go for those as well. For summer I thought about Michelin or Pirelli, I think Michelin will be more comfortable, do you have even treadwear on the Michelins, what's the mileage you are doing on them?

I've never tracked the mileage - and swapping winter/summer doesn't help.

I'm stil on my first set of Vreds - 5 years

The Michelins - I'm on the second set, so I guess must be getting 30k

You could do worse than consider Uniroyal Rainsport2 XL... They do them in 20" too and they can be had for a good price if in stock. They are not yet on the RR as it came with 4 brand new tyres but having done a lot of research a couple of years ago, they ticked many boxes and were highly rated. They exceeded expectations, were superb all round, looked good on any wheel and excelled in the wet (never used them off road).

tyrereview.co.uk is an excellent website.

Thumbs Up

Have been quoted for a set of the latest Michelin Latitude Alpin 2 (2nd generation that came out in 2012 to replace the first gen Alpin). Apparently they're very good winter tyres.

I just ordered a set of new-gen Michelin Alpin Latitude 2, will fit them in November/December to go to the Alps.

I bought a set of Hankook tyres in summer 2011, they have now done 45,000 miles, have been through two full UK winters and obviously the Summers too. never had a problem, though they're getting low now. they were considerably cheaper than Mich's and Pirelli's and the like at the time, and I would not hesitate to buy and use the same again. 275.45R20's.

Pirelli's all year - 19's though, would that make a difference?.

I worked on the basis of Hankook being the sole tyre supplier for the DTM (German Touring Car) championship, if it was good enough for them, it was for me too, though obviously not the same compounds !!!http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/images/smiles/icon_wink.gif

I had a set of Michelin Diamaris on the TDV8 and found these great for even tyre wear, road holding and grip. If they weren't so damned expensive I'd have them again. Discovery 4 HSE
