My thought versus the grabbers was that I wanted the extra contact patch for on road performance.

2015 Range Rover Vogue TDV6 Corris Grey

I had the General Grabbers on my Sport. They were actually pretty good in the mud and snow but be careful on the road in wet and cold conditions as they will slide alarmingly easily. In a 4wd its a predictable under steer but I had to vey very careful when accelerating out of roundabouts or taking 90 degree bends. In the end I killed mine off-roading as they are very easy to chew up on rocks. I swapped to Cooper AT3's which were better all round, apart from mileage as they are wearing faster - the Grabbers have huge mileage!

Glad you found some eventually. Only just came across this thread but another option might be Wrangler Duratrac - I've only managed to find a list of sizes on the US site but there might be some there.

I changed to these in 255/55R19 from Grabbers a while back and find them much better than the Grabbers in slippy conditions. In that size they weren't rated for the maximum speed but then I rarely go abroad so only do 70mph sir!!!

Back on my parents' farm when I had the Grabbers on a slightly sloping but very greasy field I went absolutely no where and needed a slight push by hand to get going. In a similar situation but with a couple of tonnes of logs behind me and on a steeper slope I was able to extricate myself without resorting to go and get (a proper) tractor. It was then I learnt about the trick of switching of DSC, made a big difference.

So, I have done about 350 road miles and a few offroad.

On the road, they are quiet and I have not yet detected any untoward behaviour. I rarely throw the car round but I nepped across a sharp turn today and front end grip was impressive. Hard braking doesn't seem to trip the ABS any sooner than road tyres. Driving through some deep standing water was impressive. Road noise seems to be the same, amazingly.

Off road, I took it across waterlogged pasture, through deep mud and down some steep woodland tracks. On waterlogged grass, it was very good - the L405 ahead of me went sideways. My car tracked (mainly) true. Uphill on mud / wet grass, it kept going when a Discovery 4 and L405 (both on road tyres) struggled. They needed a few goes to get there, I sailed up. In deep mud, it was fine as long as one had momentum. We parked up for one drive in a muddy spot. I noticed my treads were just as mud filled as the road tyres on the L405. I got out more easily but I still didn't have much traction - it took a few goes. Once the wheels were turning, the treads cleared and I had a huge advantage again.

They do look good - I'll probably change to these when the current ones need replacing. Nothing worse than an expensive 4x4 stuck in the mud or snow...much hilarity for other drivers though!

I ran AT tyres all year round on my Sport and never found and noticeable increase in noise - the mileage is a hell of a lot better too!

These are only speed rated S not Y.

we just picked up our new car (to replace our last RR which was stolen).

was looking for some tyres for the winter/shooting season, had General Grabber AT on the last car, but as they have been replaced by the GGat3 we went for them.

looked at the duratracs, but i think a bit aggressive for what we were looking for as we do a lot of motorway mileage. they are also only rated to 100mph (the car does occasionally visit Germany!)

LTZ are no longer officially available in the UK as they do not meet the required standards due to EU rules. The replacement is the Cooper AT3 Sport, which is better for L405 FFR as they are H rated.

These are to go onto an extra set of 20" alloys for the winter / shooting season. Rest of the year she will be running on 22" Turbines. 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17
