Breaker bar required to crack wheel nuts!

Well, a first for me. Just had to resort to using a breaker bar to slacken the nuts on a rear wheel and it was a struggle at that! Shocked

New tyres were fitted last year so god knows who tightened the nuts #KingKong

Still, but for having bought a RR and joining this forum, my arsenal of tools would not have accumulated and I wouldn't have had a breaker bar in the first place.

First thing I do with every car I buy is remove wheel nuts and wheels, copaslip centres and replace, pain to do but having had to go out to wife's car (Laguna) with a puncture on M61 and finding the nuts had been tightened by King Kong (had to go find scaffold pipe to go on breaker bar to remove) and then found alloys frozen to hub, seems a smart move Thumbs Up

3 of 4 wheels needed the breaker bar on at least one nut and one nut needed WD40, patience and a strong - but now quite sore - back.

Actually shocked it was so difficult to get the wheels off which I was doing for the purpose of rotating... so you're idea, Robgosty, is a safety first and sensible one.

I do the same as Robgosty - I also run winter wheels/tyres so all our cars get the wheels swapped over by me every 6 months anyway - so fresh copper grease & torqued properly Thumbs Up

I always keep a breaker bar and 22mm and 23mm (in case of swollen nuts) sockets in the car for emergencies (I'm sure a split OE wheel brace, failed OE jack and swollen nuts at the side of a motorway at 11pm would be most welcomed... Exclamation ). If I'm at home, I can get an impact wrench on any really stubborn ones if need be. Apart from that, it's nearly always me that's torqued them up correctly anyway.
