Heater Hose Replacement - Heads Up.

The other day my SC gave me the "Check coolant level" alarm when i arrived at work. After investiging under the bonnet we discovered that the Heater Hose, (Old part no. LR005187; New part no. LR006147) which forms part of the coolant system, had a small split in it.

It looked like a pig of a job to change as it runs from the front of the engine under the supercharger and reappears at the back of the engine. I phoned the dealer to get a quote for the work and they said they hadn't done one before but expected it to be a 2 hour job and quoted me accordingly.

Anyway, today i get the call telling me its ready to collect and it had taken considerably longer than expected with the engineer working on it for 14 hours in total!! Shocked

Thankfully they honoured their quote so i only paid for the 2 hours labour. Very Happy

So if anyone ever needs this hose replacing it would be worth making sure you get a quote first and find a dealer that hasn't done one before!!

I bet they found it easier to remove the SC and some other bits when i bet the Technical guide is to pull the new pipe through... FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

I had to replace this hose also. Yes, it is below the intake and the Workshop manual procedure is to remove the supercharger and intake.

This is what I did:

Used vacuum cleaner to suck a rope though the old hose from the back of the motor.
Used vacuum cleaner to suck same rope through new hose at the back of the engine.
Tied something to the end of the rope so it won't get pulled though the hose.
Smeared vaseline on the visble part of the old hose and new hose.
Pulled the rope and the old hose from the front of the engine, the new hose pushes the old one out.

I first tried to use a standard straight hose because of the cost of the original one, but there is one or more sharp bends that made the hose collapse after a few heat cycles so just get the original one. Be generous with the vaseline, I suspect there are some sharp edges under the intake and it take some force to pull the hoses through. 2006 Supercharged
