No as we don't have the special tools... But our engine builders do if one ever needs doing Wink

Try not to buy specialised tools that never get used Shocked Maybe in a few more years they may get problematic? But for now they don't Thumbs Up

Germany 2012 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Santorini Black

The next service of my '08 3.6 TDV8 is due soon and my dealer here in Germany says that the chain is due for replacement because I've reached 180k km (114k miles). I'm waiting for a price quote. Because I'd read elsewhere that it's only replaced if you have issues with it, I decided to ring my local UK dealer for a second opinion and they said it is scheduled for replacement at 105k miles or after 10 years, so it does seem to be a scheduled job.

They asked if I'd had it done before but there's no mention of it in the log book in the years prior to my ownership. It was a company car for those years so I guess the firm didn't bother with anything too costly. It did only have 65k miles on it when I bought it, though.

Can anyone tell me what a main dealer is likely to charge for a service where the chain is also replaced? 2012 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 automatic (LHD), Santorini Black

The TDV8 Timing Chain is not scheduled at 105k that just the belts on TDV6. TDV8 Timing chains are "life of the engine" so until it snaps then...

High mileage car for life owners could always get their own engine brought back to "As New"....

Really? Jeez, how do you find out the correct info if a main dealer can't even get it right... 2012 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 automatic (LHD), Santorini Black
