I forgot to mention the ride has very much improved.
I noticed it immediately even as I drove out of the concrete pathway from the tyre depot.
Even the wife said 'even more like a magic carpet'.
The other tyres had been on the car so long they had sun cracks in the sidewalls.

I've noticed with the last two sets of tyres I've had that as they've got old/worn out they've become noisy, vibratory and even resonant. Putting on a new set was like you write, going on a magic carpet again.
