I have the heated/cooled seats with the perforations.
This means using cream conditioner is not appropriate.
Has anyone used Gliptone Cleaner and another 'liquid' conditioner, because the Gliptone one is cream which bungs up the perforations.

Try applying it thinner and it won't bung up yer hole

Used it on the weekend no complaints  gone fishin'

Although from previous discussions nobody on here wants to believe it, Gliptone conditioner isn't the correct stuff to use on modern automotive leather. You can't "feed" leather which has a PU coating.

I was thinking about starting a thread in the near future about restoring all my leather as it's a bit minging!! Door trims too!
What does everyone suggest?

Dunno what the best cleaning products are, i use autoglym but there are probably better out there, however i had a few small worn patches on mine, ordered some leather dye off ebay. Worked great! Repainted a few patches and they look like original leather. Only small areas but totally dissappeared. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I understand about the coating on the leather, but mine definitely feels nicer after a couple of treatments, maybe the sealing coat wears off or degrades in the sun, and the leather can absorb the cream. I'm with 47p2 - it smells better as well! Never been troubled by it bunging up the perforations, it simply disappears with a few rubs

a little but can someone clarify the correct procedure for using gliptone cleaner and then conditioner? I seem to get a whole load of cleaner onto a pad, brush a bit but it seems to disappear quickly and not really do much cleaning...

I used to be a valeter and i would highly recommend gliptone cleaner and conditioner. I bought mine off a saab dealer on ebay for £10 plus a small p&p charge.

I used to use auto glym but their cleaner is crap IMO, gliptione does what it says on the tin, auto glym take lots of agitation and applications.

the way i use gliptone is:

1. damp micro fibre (MF), wipe one area of the seat down to remove surface crud.
2. another damp MF with a 2p size dollop of cleaner on it and massage it into the leather, if you have a stubborn engrained mark use an old nail brush whith bent bristles and agitate the cleaner until it very slightly froths. (i personally rub the cleaner in with MF then spray a mist of water over it from a plant sprayer and then agitate the whole area with a nail brush)
3, wipe the froth off with another damp MF.
4 admire the dirty stains on the MF cloth

leave to dry for a while, weather dependant on time. (summer days 30mins)

then for the conditioner :
5. dry MF cloth, 1p dollop of conditioner onto cloth and gently massage it into the area, make sure you get it in all the nooks and crannies and pay attention to areas of high usuage like the bolsters (feed these areas with a little more conditioner.)
6. leave to sink in, i usually finish the front seat, leave the conditioner to soak in and move onto the passenger seat, by the time i have cleaned the pass seat, i go back to drivers seat and buff off with a clean dry MF cloth,

smells lovely, takes all the horrid shiny siliconey reflections of the leather and looks brand new. i was over the moon when i finished my ivory leather, it went from tan to ivory in roughly an hour.

So what removes minor scuffs and scratches then please (does the glipton process do that)?

@pld118. This won't sort scratches, you need a scuff kit. I used to by them from a classic car restorer company who's name escapes me. If I remember I will repost.

@Shalz I would use 1x2p size dollop of cleaner for one bottom bolster, 2 for an upper bolster and 3 for the seat base.

Same ratio for the conditioner maybe more if I could see I was getting dry patches and it wasn't spreading enough.
