replacing steering column

how difficult is it to replace steering column - pins that assist with moving steering column up and down have broken off and i can now only get the complete steering column.

also will there be a need to update/change any of the electronics if we replace the steering column

btw its a 2004 v8 HSE

stan thanks for the prompt reply - however i am referring to the steering column - currently the thing is almost in my lap and it seems the only way will be to replace the whole thing as they do not want to sell the parts separately.

both the rake and reach motors are working perfectly - a piece of metal broke off thus having to replace the column now
